Some interesting info here. Usyk has parted ways with Sergei Vatamanyuk – that’s good news! So, Russ Anber is his trainer now, in fact. Well, he lacks experience but has a potential to be a good trainer, imho. Anyway, he’s better than Vatamanyuk, who’s been fired by Denys Berinchyk (http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/727039) as well, by the way. I don’t want to claim that Usyk will win definitely – that would be disrespectful to Gassiev, who is a very formidable opponent and a good boxer – but I’m sure Usyk will be better in this fight (than he was against Briedis)!
i wish there was a simple trick in finding decent rhymes for Usyk, And there's not exactly a million that, Would sound right paired with Murat, These fighters parents cursed be, For naming them so perversely, Were they disturbed or even insane, Or is that what's normal in Ukraine? Is 'O' in any real way better To replace Alexander's first letter, And Gassiev sounds like it should be A Russian power utility, lets hope that in the ring they can, Fight better than their names will scan,
So Gassiev shook Usyk, and Usyk shook up his camp. Maybe Russ Anber will give him good advice. But Slappy Sasha will always be a slapper.
So Usyk is changing trainers one after another even when he is winning duh.Not a good sign in my opinion.Actually none of those guys were so called trainers but cut man and some guys helping and stuff.Loma`s father had no time for him also ? Should have stayed with Bashir even if back then his style was a bit more defensive but he was getting hit less and winning still.Even Bashir was more like a yes man for Usyk than trainer when i think about it now , similar to Wlad`s situation with Bashir and Jonathon Banks. Meanwhile Gassiev is improving with each fight under Abel Sanchez.
This time the situation is different. Vatamanyuk is one of those "self-proclaiming experts" who emerge out of nowhere and they are very good at talking people into something. But after a while there comes a time where you have to provide (and not just talk) and Vatamanyuk was unable to provide. As I said in my previous post, Usyk wasn't even the first to fire him — Denys Berinchyk had done it first. (Berinchyk is a top level boxer, a former Olympian). Maybe Usyk should've stayed with Bashir indeed. But the situation there were different again. The problem was the time which a trainer devotes to his boxer. Usyk was demanding much more time than Bashir was able/willing to provide. The key here is that in Soviet (let's call it such because it's similar for all post USSR countries) style of cooperation between a boxer and his trainer, the trainer is almost like a babysitter, they spend a lot of time together. P.S. Anatoly Lomachenko was/is not available (as a full-time trainer) for Usyk — he works exclusively with his son now.
