WBSS Should be a mandatory tournament for all top 10 fighters anualy

I agree, WBSS should be required, but crooks like Haymon would never allow it.................is suspect the promoters had a hand is having USTV boycott the tournament! Those fights should have been on TV instead of the house fighter fighting a wino..............

 

The tournament setup is great, but you can't force contestants and it's hard to prevent pullouts too.
The Super 6 was plagued by it, for example.

I guess why it works so well in the Cruiser division is that you have a change of the guard, combined with it probably being the strongest it has ever been, and the division was held in low esteem by most.
Hardly any divas in there either, so that works out.
The weaker SMW division is another story.

The tournament style thing could work at least a little, and might end the holy O thing we see this generation.

 

If you are a fan of the tournament I think it's unfair to criticize those who enter the tournament, you have to have belief to put your name in the hat.

The WBSS will crown the top dog in both divisions, those who do not enter are suspect.

It is very likely the 168 champ will also be the new lineal champion, I'm calling it and so is ring magazine.

 

US tv want to try to protect their patch and hide their fighters.

They would only put their hat in the ring if they were guaranteed to make their own fighter a star. Which would mean every fight has to be in Oakland with 3 American judges and American referee.

According to YouTube and the boxing voice, WBSS Is a joke and don't mean Jack because America has no tv deal hence no interest.

 

I applaud the guys competing, but I can surely point to the difference in level.

The Ring might put the Ring belt on the line in the final, but they have zero say over who the lineal champ is. Not that it matters, because lineal is completely irrelevant nowadays.

 

Murikan power structure would NEVER play ball thus making it impossible.

 

You'd be far more likely to have one of these tournaments to find the mandatory contender rather than Champion.

 

The super 6 was a good idea but got real messy with Boxers dropping out and replacments and some Boxers having specific demands that other Boxers would have to all go out of their way to meet. At the end though the correct an was deemed the winner. This WBSS one didnt fill me with much confidence but it has been quite spectacular. But different weights brings different divas. People less willing to comply with some of the demands on all competitors. Would start getting real tricky.

But if it can be done and can be run as smoothly as this present competition has then i would be all for it. If it cant then there should be some structure put in place where the top fighters and belt owners do have to cross paths sooner rather than later.

 

The WBSS craps all over that lame super 6 that was designed to put Ward over.

What happens if an injury occurs before the final? Do they reschedule or do they bring in the replacement(Glowacki)?

 

Hope they rescedule if that happens, but it's probably Glowacki instead.

Al Haymon, Top Rank and GBP fighters won't join any type of WBSS tournaments. It's good if done by the lesser promoters and European fighters. They are more willing.
