Korobov is a welcome addition to any tournament if you ask me.

    The man who Ramirez ducked.

I wonder who else will be there. Logically one would expect a couple of Sauerland fighters since they are involved organizing the tournament. They have:

    Abraham
    Feigenbutz
    Groves
    Zeuge

I would confidently pick Benavidez to beat everyone mentioned in this thread so far.

I've been a fan of Korobov's for at least 12 years but he's just never managed to match the form as a pro he displayed in the amateurs. He was one of the best amateurs I've ever seen and his amateur resume is insane. Love to see him in the tournament though and be great to see him do really well in it.

Interesting. Schaefer did say there would likely be some Middleweights moving up for the tourney. Very curious to see who the rest of the Super Middle entries are. There should be enough better guys that Korobov shouldn't be top 4.

Indeed - Quillin was the more blatant duck.

Ramirez also swerved Korobov, but he had a tad more justification as he was coming of a long layoff and wanted an easier opponent.

I think Korobov peaked as an amateur, but he's a worthy addition- maybe he'll get some pro gold just yet.

If Benavidez is in, he's my pick to win it. I've been on that bandwagon since the kid could buy his own R rated movie ticket and I'm not going anywhere.

Benavidez is a monster, that performance against Porky was out of this world.
Regarding Korobov, i believe that he was burned from the amateurs, he was the best amateur in the world from 2005-2007, the names on his resume are just crazy and his stoppage ratio during the world championships was something that you wouldn't see in amateur boxing during those times.

Who did he beat in the amateurs? I know that he outpointed Kovalev and koed Danny Jacobs, but i can't think of anyone else.

Benavidez is an absolute beast. Hard to believe he's only 20 years old. I was seriously impressed the first time I laid eyes on him.

I think Korobov left his best form in the amateurs too. He's struggled against guys in the pros who aren't fit to lace the boots of guys he toyed with in the amateurs. I'm talking journeymen pros too. I know amateurs and pros are different but he beat virtually every top MW in the world as an amateur and MW was a very deep division.

Yes he stopped a lot of his opponents in the ams. He stopped a lot on the outscored rule but they were still a very high class of opponent he was stopping.
