Lemme pitch a fight to you. Vasiliy Lomachenko faces off against a P4P rated opponent known for his power, counterpunching skill, and slickness. Sound familiar? It should because Guillermo Rigondeaux fit this exact description and now Loma’s supposed to fight a guy of the very same characteristics in Tank Davis. Counterpunchers and slick boxers haven’t usually been a problematic style for Loma and neither have big punchers, if anything Latino style pressure fighters have tended to be bigger problems for Loma. We’ve already seen how Tank’s style plays out against Loma and it doesn’t do very well.

Rigondeaux and Tank are 2 completely different fighters. Yes they're both southpaws and counterpunchers, difference being that Rigo is a safety first, defense oriented boxer with a reputation of fighting negative which Loma capitalized on. Also let's not forget that Rigo was a smaller fighter. Whereas Tank is bigger, more aggressive fighter, and isn't afraid to take punches to give one in return.

Loma from 7 years ago would have matched much better against Tank but he's older and isn't as quick as he used to be. Tank is a dangerous fight for the current version of Loma.

Except you're missing out on one important fact, Rigondeaux moved up two weight classes to fight Lomachenko from Super Bantamweight to Super Featherweight.

This is also a quote from Lomachenko after beating Rigondeaux.

"This is not his weight, so it's not a big win for me."

I also don't think Rigondeaux is that comparable to Davis, yes they are both counter punchers and Southpaws but the way they go about it is completely different. Davis is much more aggressive and comes forward where as Rigondeaux is more cautious and defensive.

Both southpaws, with a 67.5'' reach, similar height, counter punchers, super quick, deadly southpaw backhand.

The most important fact people are missing out is Rigo was man enough to fight a prime version of Loma, Twink has shamelessly been ducking Loma for seven years and considered him an ''old man'' in 2019, despite the fact Twink is bigger than Loma, with a longer reach, and the fight would've been in his country, with the obligatory stacked deck of a home ref and three home judges where Loma would have to KO him to come away with a draw.

The fight could've been made at anytime during that period but they deliberately aged Loma out and openly admitted they were doing as much

Devin Haney 2020: ''Loma is too old too slow''

Tank 2019: ''Loma an old man. I'll retire him''

Floyd 2019: ''Lomachenko needs to fight as many fights as possible, extremely quick!, because he's very very old''

They're very different one is offense first and the other is defense first. both are southpaw counter punchers but completely different on how they go about the work. Its like comparing the number 2 to -2, they both are 2s but completely different.

Loma will be motivated to fight Tank, that's the good news.

Tank has a lot to prove in any division.
