Jennettes manager Dan McKetrick was a newspaper editor. Apparently he fabricated the knockdowns for more headlines. Jennette admitted that he never knocked McVea down when asked years later. At the end, Jennette is being mobbed while McVea is sitting on his stool alone.

 

Well, well, well. I think somebody owes Mr Money a little apology, maybe..

 

The bout was still as long, it just didn't have as many knockdowns as often assumed. :good

 

We put up a plaque by the place he had his gym and I had to do a lot of research on that bout. A good friend of mine, by the name of Joe Botti, is writing a book on Joe.

 

Many years ago we wanted to put up a new street sign in honor of him. The one they had in his honor was damaged, and half of the letters were gone. I was the guest speaker and we invited the mayor at that time. The mayor came and said he use to live in a house across the street when he was a kid and always wanted to know who this lady was by the name of Jean.

The street sign is still their, and everyone now knows who Jeannette was.
