    Yes R, Jack Britton had 344 fights
    Harry Greb had 300 fights
    Maxsie Rosenbloom 299 bouts
    For a total of 943 fights and not one was ever filmed or exists.
    Truly astonishing !

    Henry right you are. Hard to believe, as we have so many film of less talented contemporaries of these three, and not ONE EXISTS today, except for a short clip of Harry Greb training and playfully sparring with the owner of the gym, Phil. Jack O'Brien, whilst preparing for Greb's epic battle with the younger Mickey Walker, one year before Greb's tragic death in 1926.:good

    Burt, how strong was the myth of greb in your childhood?

    I use myth because today we judge him on the footage and records of those he beat so it's an indirect judgement.

    I personally think greb is the goat.

    But i'm wondering if there was available footage of greb in your younger days or was it common knowledge this great man wasn't filmed?

    luf, I first heard the name Harry Greb when as a tot I lived next door to a trainer of the great LH champ John Henry Lewis. Every evening I would go next door and spar with some of the stablemates of JH,who I never saw in the apt. The trainer would give me a question drill of fighters,and I would learn to answer those boxing questions. The name Harry Greb arose many times,though he was dead since 1926, but his great reputation lingered on. Than my dad who loved boxing and boxed in smokers in his youth mentioned to my question "who was the greatest boxer you ever saw "
    always replied Benny Leonard and Harry Greb. Dad had seen the 1922
    Bloodbath at MSG in which the 12 pound lighter Greb demolished Tunney
    and was forever praising him. Benny Leonard he would say was Ray Robinson, before Ray Robinson...Then I started my collection of Ring Mags in which the great boxing writers of the time lauded the exploits of the one-eyed Pittsburgh Windmill. I was hooked by Greb's amazing and FEARLESS career since then, alongst Ray Robinson whom I saw several times at his WW peak, ringside...Cheers L...
