i see alot of posts hyping up kell brook, how he is a big welterweight and walks around at X weight. and yes he looks in very good shape coming into this fight but this is a miss match. ITS A ****ING MISS MATCH 1. kell has never fought at 160 let alone 154, it takes time for your body to get used to that and more importantly getting used to the middleweights you are going to be facing 2. when you look at the numbers it suggests kell is having a harder time dropping weight then GGG. but GGG has always been a middleweight (not exactly a big one but a middleweight none the less) he is also the best middleweight BY FAR (in a pretty lively division i might add) 3. Kell MAKES 147. he is working VERY HARD like most fighters do to make weight but he makes it and looks good doing it (hence why many rate him as currently the best WW) but he wont re hydrate anywhere near as much come fight night because this time around his preparation weight wise was prob spent more on conditioning then making weight limits. GGG will re hydrate to 171-173 like he always does on fight night and kell wont come in as heavy. its a brave thing for an undefeated top welterweight to do and i commend him for it but lets just take a step back and use the knowledge of the fight game we possess to see that its a very very bad miss match
I'll bet you $50.00 (payable through PayPal) that Brook will weigh more on fight night (if they disclose the information).
And it WAS a mismatch when it was announced, but Brook is looking like a MONSTER. Stark difference than Khan looking chubby and adding on weight strictly for size. Brook's gains seem to be very meaningful as he is looking the fastest, most explosive, and most powerful I have ever seen him.
i figure they'll rehydrate to roughly the same amount. besides, it's a mismatch mostly because Triple G is a far superior boxer, and with much more power, (not to mention a granite middleweight chin). it does amuse me to see Brits talking themselves into believing Brook has a chance though. comical.
I would be surprised if he did honestly... I don't see him weighing more than 165 on fight night. He needs to retain some speed and quickness, if he's going to have a shot here.
First of all, Golovkin will not dehydrate above 170 anymore because he doesn't want to lose the IBF belt on the scales. So between 171 and 173 like before he held that belt won't happen anymore. Second. Brook was much heavier at the 30 day and 7 day weigh-ins so he might even have some trouble to get within the IBF rehydration limit, and he probably won't care either. he's not going to win the WBA belt if lightning strikes and he then might not win the IBF belt either, but the IBO/WBC and all the glory will be his. Better improve his chances instead of trying to get undisputed.
I have no idea, I'm not in his body (that's sounds kinda icky)... dehydrating less is always better as more though.
He's got to be light in there, this is his first fight in the higher weights, if he goes in there and blows up past 170, I think it's a mistake. And I don't think he's going to give up his shot at gaining all those belts (yes, minus WBA)by not meeting the rehydration clauses. He'd be a fool if he did.
I figure no matter what the ggg superfanboys will say anything to make this appear to be a legit fight/threat ....the desperation never ceases
The IBF weigh ins are the morning after the official weigh in. You could conceivably weigh 170 at the IBF weigh in and still be 175 come fight time
