All of the regulars on here know my feelings for Khan. I have always thought he was overrated...and said the first good fighter with good pop he fought would stop him (sorry had to gloat). And when I first saw he was KO'd I thought...yup, I knew it. BUT, then I saw the video of the fight. And I gotta say...Prescott, even in the QUICK display showed me ALOT! First he is long for his division and seems to have a great little jab. He also counter Khan VERY well (not an easy thing to do to someone with Amir's speed). His power goes without saying...but even as long as was, he threw compact...something you normally dont see from fighters in his mold. He also had great leverage on his punches, which normally comes from great footwork. Admittingly I need to see more, but from the little I saw he looked great!!! I cant wait to follow this kid more... So lets back off of Khan for a bit. I think its obvious now that he has shortcomings...and its pretty glaring what they are. But as I have said, even tho I felt he was very overrated, he is skilled. He will have a decent career....he just lost tonight...to someone who seemingly might be a DAMN good fighter. Again, I will keeping an eye on this kid.
I won't be jumping on a Prescott bandwagon. The guy gets beat by any elite level fighters in the world, he was just facing a fighter in Khan with no punch resistance. Why do we have to hype every fighter who wins?
He still has the other facets to his game but as soon as he is hit hard enough, that's all she wrote.
How is that hyping him...when I stated right in the post that he looked great (fundamentally) but I need to see more from him??? I swear, if its not people saying a fighter got exposed, its the exact opposite on this site. I love how I am wrong for hyping him off the 54 secs I saw (even tho its clear Im not), yet your perfectly qualified to make decisions on who would beat him off of the same 54 secs. Makes total sense....
I too thought Prescott looked good. While Amir's chin is undoubtedly made of china, Prescotts punches were powerful and also very accurate. It will be interesting to see how good this guy is. He might be as good as another south american Acelino Freitas who came out of nowhere came to europe and crushed Anatoly Alexandrov in a round. Who knows? Can Khan rebuild? Not impossible but he will have to completely change the way he fights. For such a tall, fast, mobile fighter I have always been shocked that he fought in a manner that meant he instigated every attack and never countered.
I didn't say you were wrong, I'm just saying I won't be jumping on a Prescott bandwagon. My thought is, if anybody who can even slightly hit at lightweight hits Amir, it's over, but I suppose I'll be intrigued to see Prescott in his next fight but I don't expect a lot.
