Can't really have missed it, but for the ones who did....

5/10 - CRISTOBAL ARREOLA VS BERMANE STIVERNE II FOR THE VACANT WBC WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT WORLDCHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD!

The rematch means the title is going back to North America (from who some even think it's their birthright) for the 1st time in 8 years no matter who comes out victorious.

But the problem is that both fighters got laughed at not too long ago for their lack of skills and certainly their lack of defence.
The case of Arreola has been discussed here many times, certainly his conditioning. But most here haven't seen much of Stiverne, and the people who did certainly recall his fight with the old and shot to **** Ray Austin, wich he won eventually but looked henious in.

Here are some RbR quotes to give you an idea.
So is this a blessing, a curse or neither for the state of the division?
    You decide.

Where Stiverne and Arreola come from is irrelevant to me, I'm beyond rooting for fighters based upon nationality.

But I'll be rooting for Stiverne to repeat his performance and hopefully KO Arreola this time round.

It's a f******ing joke, especially with the way that fraud Wilder was lined up as a challenger...

I am not a massive wlad fan but the belt actually really means nothing does it, it's like the winner will be champion of the second string

I want Arreola to make history and become the first ever Mexican American Heavyweight Champion. I really hope he pulls it off.

Same here. I expect him to show up like never before in this one and fight his heart out simply to make history. This is his last chance ever and he knows it.

In all fairness, I'm on a pretty negative roll when it comes to making predictions in relatively close fights this year, but still I really believe it.
And that has more to do with Stiverne's limitations as a boxer as it has to do with my unconditional believe in Christ Arreola ;)
Also, I think there should be some kind of justice in the world that prevents a Don King controlled fighter to get his mitts on a major HW belt.

I'm not American, but I can see the view of WBC why this match is being made.
Heavyweight Boxing has been controlled by the Klitschko's for the last couple of years. Most of their contenders are European.
They want to create some interest in the Heavyweight product in the North American continent (especially USA) again, so now Vitali has quit they see a change to build it up again.

The Heavyweight Division is getting some more intention in the USA again, with some young stars like Wilder/Jennings and Mike Perez (He's Cuban I know but always fights in America).
Also their are some new young heavyweights coming up like Trevor Bryan/Michael Hunter (both on the undercard for Arreola-Stiverne) and Dominic Breazeale.

It's still best of the rest in my view, but WBC is creating an open division again.
