Cant write off Stevenson, but his chin is known. Its known to be "OK" but not spectacular. Maybe he gets to Kovalev first, and the Krushers chin doesnt hold up. That is possible to be sure. But given Stevensons fleeing the fight, combined with his statements and body language about Kovalev I have to give the Krusher a big advantage going in because Stevenson would be fighting scared. (note: I dont mean would be scared, as in afraid of the man - but more like Macklin was fighting scared with GGG where you get in a bad position because you give the other guy too much respect)
We don't know. We have to see. I just don't understand the logic with some people. As if we haven't seen ONE MILLION times in boxing where a guy who was supposed to be "the guy" finally steps up and gets exposed. It's happened so many times. You'd think by now people would stop falling for that ****. They said that Danny was scared of Matthysse after he KO'd Peterson too. That his body language was "off". That he looked nervous and worried. We just seen it happen with Matthysse. He looked unbeatable, on the rise. UNFATHOMABLE POWER. Then he fought the top guy in his division which was a step-up for him, then he found out "oh **** this guy can take my punches" then we found out his chin was shaky, then we found out he can give but can't take. then we found out how he reacts to a guy who can take his punches, and found out that he can't just win boxing, he relies on overwhelming his opponents. None of these things were known going into Garcia-Matthysse. Everyone had Matthysse winning that fight going in, and doubted the MORE PROVEN champ. We didn't know these things about Matthysse, But we know them now. The same way that we knew more about Danny going in to the Matthysse fight, we would know more about Adonis going into the Kovalev fight. That's all I'm saying. I go with the guy I know more about.
After watching both men fight multiple times, I would give the edge to Kovalev. I think Kovalev has the better chin. They both are accurate punchers. Kovalev seems more explosive although they both have very good power. Kovalev is not invincible by any means. At times he leaves himself open when he gets into exchanges. But all things taken into account I think you have to give the edge to Kovalev. Stevenson also seems predictable. Against a better fighter, I think most of his punches are "seen" and avoided. The guys I have seen him fight so far have done poorly avoiding the straight shots. It seems Kovalev would be too smart for that. Also, someone previously described Stevenson as fast. I disagree. I would not call him fast. Good power, reasonable speed but against strong, upper tier competition, he would look almost plodding. If you stay in front of him, though, like any good puncher, he will hurt you. You just can't stand there and exchange with him. I also think Stevenson has a bully mentality. If he can't hurt you and you don't back down, I think he may crumble. This is why Kovalev should KO Stevenson.
Well in this case its heavily exacerbated by the fact that Stevenson ran from the fight. If he had not done so, he would not be facing this level of derision. With regards to Stevenson, is it not pretty much the same regarding his power? His reputation such as it is basically rides on him catching Dawson cold after his Ward KO loss with that big left hand of his. Its not like he outboxed Dawson for several rounds and broke him down for the stoppage. So I am not sure how anyone can really consider Stevenson as more proven or accomplished in any regard outside of power - since his entire reputation has been based on it. Much like Kovalev.
Stevenson is a COWARD. Plain and simple and there is no denying it. Kov gives him brown poo stains in his Y-Fronts.
It has been proven that Stevenson is afraid of Kovalev. HBO had an agreement for Stevenson to fight Kovalev, but Stevenson broke the agreement because he did not want to fight Kovalev. Good thing he did duck Kovalev........................Kovalev by vicious knockout.............
Me too I ain't walking into no ring or dark alley with the *******. He really has a mean streak to him. I watched his fights and his interviews - he does not mean to just defeat Stevenson. Kovalev means to hurt him. Badly...
Stevenson was presented with an opportunity to earn more money and gain more stardom over at Showtime. Alto its not popular what he did I understand and dont hate him for it. To fight kovalev now is a high risk no reward fight. Kovalev is a dangerous fight but who has he beat? He's a no name guy at this point, Stevenson has everything to lose and nothing to gain. I think they wait a little let kovalev gain some momentum behind him. Stevenson fights and beats bhop, then they can fight and it would be big later and better for both guys name and resume.
