I see some posts saying it is too early to make this fight. WRONG. The public, especially boxing fans, like us, are pounding the table for this fight. People want to see this fight. It would be a big payday for both fighters.

Can you get over how Brian Kenny TOTALLY avoided mentioning Kovalev's name when discussing Stevenson's next fight? What a joke. All he could talk about was Bhop. Jim Gray, to his credit, at least asked Stevenson in the post fight interview whether he would want to fight Kovalev. He forced him to answer. Stevenson reluctantly said sure he would but you could tell he doesn't want to go there.

Don't know what has been said behind the scenes. Don't know what has gotten to Stevenson, but my sense is Kovalev does not like Stevenson. Really does not like him. Doesn't like what he did to those girls. Thinks Stevenson is a low life and wants to hurt him. Wants him to pay for the BS behavior.

And punks, street toughs like Stevenson know this. I think Stevenson is afraid of Kovalev. I'm not saying this means Kovalev automatically wins the fight but I definitely think Kovalev wants to hurt this punk and Stevenson knows it.

I think there is a little more to this story than has gotten out so far.

In the proposed Kovalev Stevenson fight......it coulda been in Stevnesons backyard with him getting a larger split of gate, Canadian TV $$$$ etc.....Main Events was willing to take the smaller purse and they didnt hide this.
Hell, KOvalev fought WBO Champion Cleverly in his backyard for peanuts. HBO paid him more than Cleverly did.

When KOvalev's name gets mentioned, Stevenson looks like that punk kid who raped and imprisoned those little girls.....and the gavel is being dropped. He's thinking of the @ssfukkings he took in prison and why he took them. Then he looks at KOvalev and think that maybe that is his final judgment for his crimes.:think

 

Stevenson is a bum. A one trick pony, and not a very good trick. Kovalev is licking his chops and laughing. Easy to hit, no stamina, loses power and is tired in the second round? They should really do a scrotum check on Stevenson. maybe it's not as bad as it sounds about his beating up girls? Maybe he is one. this guy is nothing.

I thought he was getting paid 2 million for this fight. He's where they will promote him to be the next big thing fighting guys he should beat. I dont think he would win against kovalev, and if he did it wouldn't do much for him right now. I didn't say the fight wouldn't make him money, I'm just saying its a high risk low reward fight for him. He fights and losses he drops down ranking and they would look for the next guy. He in the best position for himself, ride the gravy train while he can. If the fought kovalev is ride would've be cut short.

The other thing that some guys are saying is "who has Kovalev fought?" Anyone saying this doesn't know boxing. Kovalev has fought all comers, turned no one down. Not only that, the guys he has beaten in his last few fights have all been tough customers. He just made them look mediocre.

Agnew was a tough SOB, make no mistake about it. Kovalev broke him down.

Sillah was a crafty, KO artist. He made him look average.

Cleverly, like Agnew, was undefeated.

Camillo, though on his way down, was a tough, seasoned professional. He broke his will.

Simakov, the guy he killed, was 19-1-1.

He fought Boone twice and KO'd him in the second fight. As everyone knows, Boone KO'd Stevenson in their first fight.

Kovalev's opponents' combined records over his last 6 fights are 117-7.

As I said, anyone who asks who Kovalev has fought doesn't know boxing.

Stevenson fought a more shot version of Dawson than KOvalev did vs Campillo.
Most ppl discredit the Campillo blitzkreig saying he was shot......but those same ppl claim he was just prior, robbed of a win vs IBF Champion Cloud.

Dawson hasnt looked great in a long time. But b/c he has Roidnards number, doing his best Clazalghe impersonation, he's still relevant. Hell, he coulda still Decisioned Roidnard after the Stevenson KO loss, on the same night.:shock:

 

And I'd like to add........Campillo was destroying Fonfara before he gassed in the 8th. He did much better than Stevenson had done, except he got waved off.:think

 

iceman....please go back to chewin on foreskin. this is something you are good at. bums do win titles, sometimes. i rate him a bum compared to true champions. not everyone that wins a belt qualifies. he does not display the characteristics of a champion. frankly, with ihis background nothing more need be said in that category. a champion has heart and a lot more. and doesn't run from other contenders. a champion wants to fight the best. unfortunately, in todays world that is a rarity, it is all "about billions" ala Broner and his ilk.
