I appreciate that he took initiative and voted in his own poll. Bold choice, too, going with option number one.
The language is Turkish, if anybody is wondering. And honestly, no, there are no Turkish nationals (or even fighters of Turkish descent) that are currently in any reputable top 40 pound for pound list in boxing. The last was...Selçuk Aydın? (and even that's a maybe) Guys like Ali Eren Demirezen, Avni Yıldırım and Fatih Keleş have all recently been in various states of (fringe) contention in their respective divisions, but no chance is any of them even top 100 p4p. Probably the GOATs of the former Ottoman Empire are... Sinan "Bull of the Bosphorus" Şamil Sam (pros) and Serafim Simeonov "The Money-Changer" Todorov (amateur).
(and yes, btw, I'm well aware of Todorov's 'true' nationality of record being Bulgarian...but little-known fact: his real name is Ahmet Sabri, and he at one point attempted to change his citizenship and defect to represent his ancestrol home in the amateurs. )
How could I forget my favorite dark horse cruiser - Firat Arslan! If he upsets Lerena this weekend he is the clear Turkish (including people of Turkish descent, even if 2nd-generation in other countries) p4p #1 at present.
