Watch again Tysons fights from 80s and then todays heavyweights. Which one looks like slow motion?

There are a few important factors that are usually overlooked.

Were the old timers really "world champions"? Not compared to world champions nowadays; China, Russia, Kazahkstan, Cuba, Poland, Ukrain, Romania etc.

There's probably a larger field of competitors today so contemporary pugilists would trend to be better.

If one were to find old back issues of boxing publications one would be surprised at how the "skilled" old timers were criticized as being unskilled and out of shape by the boxing media of the time.

The old timers did not have boxing commissions to even do a perfunctory enforcement of rules and by-laws. A current pro boxer would have a much tougher time fighting the same opponent 7 times but that particular opponent fought under 5 different names. One eyed boxers were allowed to fight. Organized crime and promoters had much greater control over boxing back then too.

Try to take off the rose colored glasses for a while and think about it.

Haye was dropped hard by Lock a SMW. He was rocked by pudding fist Chisora and had to be saved by an early bell and looked badly gassed before he scored the KO
He ran from Fury because he knew he'd get knocked out.

Haye never had to cut any weight at Cruiser. That is his is natural weight..He is not a natural Heavy.
Gassing out is not any excuse for a loss. Thats the same as saying he only lost because he was ko'd.
Haye lost because he can't take shots. End of story.

All todays top boxers have bad stamina and have lesser skills than the top boxers of the 60', 70, and 80's.

People in here arguing against that prove they never saw a Marvin Hagler fight in their life.

False. Haye walks around well over 16 stone. Obviously if you weren't such an idiot you would also know prior to unifying with Enzo that Haye fought well over the 90.7 kg CW limit regularly.

Every fighter weighs heavier on fight night after making the weight limit you absolute spastic.

He weighed only 211lbs against Chisora. And he had to lift heavy and eat large to get to that.

Boxing is a martial art, not a straight up sport. In a sport the aim is to repeat the same mechanical motions more efficiently but with a martial art there is the role of artistic expression. Different body types and styles determine how a fighter fights, you cannot really make a straight up comparison.

Don't call me dense and then type a joke of a post like above.

Wlad's bigger, with more fire power?

You make it sound like Ali was 5'5 and was 140 pounds.

    Ali was 6'3 with a 78' reach.

It's obviously never occurred to you, that against a peak 67 version of Ali, Wlad's extra height and weight etc, would actually have been a disadvantage for him.

Wlad was befuddled by David Haye's movement. He couldn't land clean on Haye even though he was trapped against the ropes.

How on earth would he have coped with Ali's footwork??

He wouldn't have time to set himself.

You're just an other idiot, that hasn't got a clue.

    What's happened to this forum?

He only put on an extra 3 pounds over the limit:rofl

His natural weight. Heavy ruined him. Did you expect him to come in lighter than the 200 pound limit on fight night. Are you ******ed or something?

To tell you the truth, I just can't be bothered to debate with you.

I didn't realise who I was debating with at first.

Your post last week regarding Calzaghe and Roy was a joke.

If you think only Lewis would have caused Wlad trouble then you're deluded.

No, Wlad isn't one of the greatest.

He's just got the stats on paper that's all.

But statistics don't allow for circumstances.

He's not some completely different fighter, to what he was years ago.

He's just a lot more cautious, and the reason he can get away with only throwing two shots, and a clinch, is because the division is the weakest it's been for many a year.

Athletes get better? Yes. But fighters are becoming rarer by the day.

A light heavy as an amateur. Made his career at Cruiser. Had the most success at Cruiser.
Lost , gassed , was slow on his feet and inactive at Heavy.

    Don't ever quote me again
