Put the 94 Man Utd team, with Giggs on one wing, Kanchelskis on the other, Ince in midfield and Cantona and Hughes up front, up against the current side.

That team beats the current one IMHO.

I think he's about 12.

 

A genius on his day.

They never had offers for him, because everyone knew he'd never leave.

He should have many more England caps.

But he was a player who had a free role, and England managers found it hard to accommodate him.

You couldn't play him on the wing, in central midfield, or up front.

That's what cost him more caps.

He had more out and out ability than anyone in the current squad.

 

The thing is, he really was that great.

But he was content to stay at Southampton, and the game was different back then.

He played for an unglamorous side, that struggled every year, and he was hard to accommodate in the National side.

Look at a guy like Beckham.

He played on the biggest stage, and had the looks that brought millions in through sponsorship and merchandise.

Real Madrid bought him, when he wasn't even needed, yet according to some reports, the transfer fee was repaid in merchandise sales, just from a pre season tour of Asia.

Life is all about circumstances and opportunities.

It might seem silly to think of Le Tiss being an ATG, but he could have been under different circumstances, and many will argue that he already is.

IMHO, he had more ability than Beckham.

 

Yeah, but very few people would call Beckham an all time great.

To me that term is something for referring to Zidane,Best,Pele,Maradonna, Beckenbauer, Messi,Ronaldo(both of them) etc. That type of category.

Le Tissier was exceptionally talented but also got a lot of press for simply staying at that club and for managing to score great goals while looking like a security guard at Asda.

Id say that about a lot of teams mate. Newcastle , Arsenal , Liverpool.. Great traditional English teams back then. The glory days!

it is an old case, so googling world records deleted/erased just makes every world recod being broken pop up, as a possible match for my search.

this basically means, that the athletic association felt, that records should be deleted, if it could be proven that peds were involde and that they were!

we´ll just tried google onve again and apparently not all records were removed. Whether or this proves the opposite, is a good question. There were athletes who wanted their records removes and also an association which felt the same. Proof right now, no. Circumstancial evidence, in abundance.

 

I played football for over 20 years, football became indeed faster, and its more professional now. Kids today know all tricks, offensively and defensively, tactics changed, faster combinations, also the game play changed completely, how can anyone not see that? The Brazil team from the 70s and 80s would have blitzed through the wc 2014? Lmao you are watching the offensive play and forget completely how the defense improved, compared to today defenders of the past were either just standing and watching, or attacking way too soon, as if they were playing against the Harlem Globetrotters. I am not trying to discredit the legends of the past, but the past is the past.
I agree with you that the passion and dedication to clubs is rare today, but look at the German team, they show almost at every championship what passion means, combined with discipline and quality they were just unbeatable this year.
