The only thing that has got better is the short cuts !!!

This is why boxers menatatilities are weaker

    Conditions are worse

Fundimentals have digressed I could go on and on as to how much worse athletes are today when it comes to skill !

I wasn't sure after that S1 finale. They went out there, man.

I loved it, but for most audiences (hell, even most Adult Swim viewers) that **** got maybe a little too weird.

I was afraid it would be gimmicky or an embarrassment to Mike but the writing & voice acting was on point. It got me to actually LOL multiple times per episode.

The other factors to consider is that championship matches use to be 15 rounds and now they're only 12, and I do think some skills such as feinting, parrying etc. have diminished. Boxing is a sport where you're only as good as the coaches. Most of the legendary coaches are gone. But athetically speaking, and for the most part ignoring the heavyweight division where slobs can fight, I do agree that athletics on average are better.

Athletes do generally get better. But in boxing the pool of talent has gotten drastically smaller. It was once the most popular sport in America, next to baseball . From 1920 to 1970 it was the sport, so it attracted the athletes. So that's why boxers haven't gotten better. If the best we're fighting, say if Michael Vick was a middleweight, or Lebron James was a heavyweight, then the answer might be different, but the best athletes don't box anymore in America. Although the counter to that is, that boxers now come from all over the world, so now globally the are more fighters. All I know, looking back at pep and those guys, they had superior technique to the guys fighting today. Maybe not the physiques, but clearly fighters from the era are far more comfortable in the ring, something I've only seen toneu and mayweather posssss from this era, that level of comfort , and composure in the ring. That comes from rounds man, a lot of em.

Apparently you didn't watch the video or don't grasp what the fundamentals of boxing are. :-(

You think Tony Galento was well conditioned?

How are Spinks-Coetzee and Baer-Galento more fundamentally sound than Chagaev-Povetkin? I can say why they are not fundamentally sound in comparison; balance, timing, short punching, keeping the guard in proper position. The old timers were all over the place.

Lol at the hypocrites pretending the chronically obese 5'7 Tony "two tons" Galento would be competitive today.

Have you ever seen him fighting? Dustin "the worm" Nicholls is like ten times more athletic and active than the embarrassing Tony Galento.

Butterbean is like an athletic freak, compared to Galento. Galento would get murdered by today's tomato cans. Completely obliterated.
