According to Sergey Lapin, who is part of Oleksandr Usyk's management team.Usyk hasn't even shown us his true potential and he will be even better in the rematch

"Despite the fact that he has a huge amount of experience and fights behind him, he is constantly improving and getting better every training day. I have seen and know what Usyk is really capable of, and the version of Usyk in the fight with Anthony Joshua was 60-70 percent of his potential. So yes, Usyk can really be better.”

Usyk held back against Joshua. Usyk was just testing his abilities. I believe he'll get the KO in round 8

Usyk at 100% vs Tyson Fury will be an ATG fight

Well, Usyk in one of the interviews said that when he gained that mass, after 220 pounds, he had good power increase and showing it on sparring, but his team said that he don't need it. He needs to stick to the gameplan and box.

I believe he can TKO/KO every single top 10 guy right now if he chose to do so, but he ALWAYS does what his CORNER says.

That would be great. I don’t hope it's in the Holyfield way though.

    That's what I said.
People keep talking about what AJ can do differently etc but forget that Usyk will be even better 2nd fight. We've never seen Usyk at 100%, he always fights in a way that will secure him the win but doesn't ever reveal all his cards.

Um just because you gain weight doesn't mean your power increase. Also your team doesn't need to tell you to knock out somebody if you have legit power. Your punches do the speaking for you. Usyk isn't a huge puncher and he never will beat. Him hurt Joshua shows you how bad Joshua's chin is not how hard Usyk punches.

It was clear to me that Usyk's fight with Chisora was about putting mileage on the clock and getting acclimitized with Chisora's pressure style giving Usyk a decent work out.

I don't think the objective was ever to knock Chisors out.

Looking at the Joshua fight I think again the objective was to confortably outpoint AJ which Usyk achieved.

It should be noted that despite not looking for a KO he had Joshua on wobbly legs and if the fight lasted another minute Joshua gets clipped.

I don't think Usyk is a huge puncher but I think his punch accuracy and placement can mean that he can still be effective in execution.

The winning strategy for Usyk therefore will be to get the KO as if it goes the distance and the fight just looks a little bit closer then Joshua will get the nod.

In conclusion both fighters can improve in the rematch but I believe that Usyk has more potential being the naturally more skilled fighter. and awareness that Joshua is vulnerable to get clipped so that will be the objective.

Yeah, Usyk is the smarter fighter so he's going to have learned at least as much about his opoponent as AJ did from their first fight, and probably more.

Hearn said that he can't see more from Usyk, from his words - "this was the best Usyk that we could see"

I think that's Hearns wishfull thinking and what he tells Joshua to stop him shitting the bed and having a mental breakdown.

Maybe he means that Usyk's final form is so impressive, that we get blinded by his brilliance... it happens, but our eyes and brain can't process it.

I’m sure Usyk can accomplish more in the sport of boxing, but in terms of him improving? He’s 35 years old next month, so I’m doubtful to say the least.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Joshua got Bellew'd in the rematch.

No. Joshua’s a different fighter. A completely different fighter. That’s not how it works.

It’s difficult to measure improvement in boxing, given that there is no simple metric to measure it. What we do know though is that our bodies start to slowly decline in our 20’s, and that decline speeds up in our 30’s. Sure, boxers can improve technically and mentally, but their physical decline cannot be denied. He’s still a top fighter, I just don’t see him improving. He’s technically at the top of his game, and his mentality is top notch. That means his decline will align with his physical decline (speed/reflexes/recovery/stamina etc).

In the first AJ fight, Usyk clearly valued accuracy, sustained pressure and staying balanced more than getting the maximum power behind his shots. He put a lot of pressure on AJ to wear him out but was never off balance after throwing punches. Smart strategy which I expect him to follow in the next fight.

In the later rounds, he could have committed more to his bigger shots but it wasn’t necessary and would have opened him up to return fire from the bigger man. Usyk is the more skilled guy but if he makes one mistake (like loading up on a shot too early in the fight when AJ is fresh) he can easily get KOd. AJ has legit HW power and is a huge athletic guy.

Usyk would be smart to try to land big shots when AJ starts to fade because I have a feeling the judges are going to do everything possible to steal the fight for AJ. He needs to take it out of the hands of the judges and not get caught with big shots from the larger man. If Usyk gets knocked down, even a flash, it’s going to be very difficult for him to get a decision against a hometown fighter like AJ, even if he dominates the fight.
