We just found Sergio Martinez' worthy opponnent: new MW champ Daniel Geale!

    Great effort by Tasmanian-Australian Daniel Geale who just picked up the IBF MW belt beating Sebastian Sylvester in 12 exciting rounds in Germany. So cut the crap and get to the point: can you imagine him and World MW Champ Maravilla Martinez going all out for 12? This is a thinking men's MW showdown, two highly skilled boxers willing to mix it up, it just can't go wrong. And let me tell you, Geale just came at the right moment because Martinez is short on worthy challengers. Daniel earned his shot and the payday that'd come with it.

    So what are you waiting for dear HBO Sports, just pressure the **** out of promoter Gary Shaw and Lou DiBella and we have a fight worthy of the MW Championship.

    This one is for the fans.

    He'd be a heavy underdog but a worthy challenger. Wouldn't be surprised if his first defense is against Mundine in Oz.

    I'd like to see it, but I doubt either network will do anything to make it happen. Geale unfortunately has never fought in the US and is unfamiliar to most people. And Shaw probably does not have the leverage to pressure them like he was able to with Dzinziruk through Bradley.

    The fact that Geale is so willing to travel though probably makes this a viable fight in early 2012, especially if he's able to take a stay-busy fight or two in the States.

    i'd like to see Geale land a HUGE fight. He has a great team behind him,like to see him fight a couple of southpaws first before going in with Martinez..

    Paul Williams deserves a 3rd fight. He did beat Martinez the first time around and was winning before getting KTFO.

    Martinez would be more likely to take on a big name challenge? I mean, picking up the IBF strap would be good, but I don't see him making much money from fighting Geale.

    Perhaps the extra earning potential from having the IBF strap would seem worth it to him. Earn a small amount for fighting Geale, but earn more afterwards for having that extra belt?

    I just can't see Martinez wasting a fight like that. Wouldn't he want to earn all big dollar fights from now until retirement?

    What big dollars? You don't seriously think either fraud or manny would
    fight martinez do you? Unless martinez fights pavlik at 165 he aint
    making any money. He'll have to rematch kelly or fight pirog/geale.

    Martinez is not after money, he's after P4P fame, and the best way to get that is fighting the highest ranked P4P fighters, let's say Cotto, Pacquiao or Mayweather at 154lbs. But you don't know how much **** did I get for suggesting Martnez, a former LMW champ to fight these 3, ALL regining or former LMW champs, at LMW! :lol:

    So if Cotto who's likely without an opponent is a no go, Sergio's next best opponent is Daniel. You can argue he's undefeated as Mundine was lucky to get the W, and he just beat the no3 MW in the world, so the Australian, who deserves a payday just as much as Martinez, is the ideal opponent for a unification. Nice clash of styles too, they both have some nice skills and moves, but not afraid to open up and go at it.

    But HBO will have to come up with a figure which could be problematic, so maybe a double-header should come first, but I don't think Maravilla would mind going to Australia either, and why not? This fight just can't go wrong either way. And if Geale-Mundine II comes first, I think we can wait.

    Geale would be an easy picking for either of the current beltholders... Martinez would eat him alive I guess... wide punches and bad technique are one thing, but having feathers in gloves doesn't make for the best combination. He has good stamina and is moving constantly... other than that, I just don't see anything that tells me he could beat Sturm or Pirog, let alone Martinez.
