We must recognize the difference between ATGS AND HOFS

    I See how often we throw around the term ATG and its sickening. The thing that makes ATG's, ATG's is that there are not many of them. If we have guys that have the accomplishments of Pac and Floyd, yet they can't break the top 20 on most of your lists, what does that say of guys like Barrera and Morales, or Mosley or DLH? If guys that are more accomplished than them can't even break into the top 20, and sometimes the top 30?

    Are you really an ATG if you're recognized as a top 200 fighter? I'm not sure what the criteria should be. But there term ATG loses value if there are damn near 20 of them in every era.

    The term ATG should simply mean that they would be able to compete with other ATGs in history. And that's how we should seperate HOF vs ATGs.

    I agree. There should be 3 levels.

    All time greats (which should be reserved for the top 20 to 30 fighters of all time- so not active boxer qualifies in my opinion).

    Greats (which maybe should expand to 100 or so)

    Hall of Famers (the rest of the HoF or at least HoF worthy fighters)

    Three ATG'S in the last 20 years...Calzaghe, Floyd and Pac. The rest are just Hall of Famers.

    There needs to be a better criteria. I can't stand how much we (I say we, as boxing fans, including myself) throw around that term. Should be reserved for a special class.

    Nothing I said in that post was incorrect.

    ellerbe classes Broner as an ATG because he's a black yank pushed down the thoarts of the guillable public by HBO & Showtime.

    Top 100 fighters is typically what it is after that you're not an atg. Guys like pbf PAC and Hopkins are clearly atg top 50 atg all 3 imo. Guys like oscar Tito Erik morales aren't in their class.
