like heavyweight, who is a good boxer and is willing to mix it up with good speed and power, to bring back excitement to the sport and to the heavyweight division, this man could do it all, box like a robot, fight like a machine the MOST underrated/and unappreciated heavyweight ever!

p.s can someone find me a good larry holmes tribute or make one? i only found this one and its not even that good :(

    David "disapointment" Haye.
No fighter can hype up a fight, run around 12 rounds, hype another fight to an even bigger magnitude and run for 12 rounds again, how he hyped the Chisora fight was also wonderfully done.

Yeah, he was both exciting inside and outside the ring unlike many other fighters

Holmes is crazy overrated. A great fighter, but not the upper tier.

No way he should ever have lost a rematch to an aging light heavyweight.

What? If he isn't upper tier, who is? Have you actually seen any of his fights?
Regarding the Spinks fight ,please rewatch the first one and tell me if The Jinx did enough to take the title away from Larry Holmes.

Most over rated ever. Larry fought in the worst era ever and has no signature wins. Holmes is at best top 20, and that is a gift.

    Earnie Shavers

Signature wins . Longest reign behind Louis. Pretty impressive best HW jab in hsitory

Once again, Holmes is a great fighter.

But he fought in the worst era in heavyweight history and anything can happen in a fight so he gets a pass on the first Spinks fight.

But he never, ever should have lost the rematch to a light heavyweight.

Look at Louis, Ali, Lewis, Wlad, etc...ATG's who adjusted in rematches which resulted in clear victories. Holmes absolutely should have done so if he was as great as some think. He didn't and couldn't.

Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't know the fight game and need to start watching and less talking.

Holmes is overrated and his fights were boring as hell. He had a good jab and nice foot work thats it. He didn't have much power for a HW either.

Ken norton had a glass jaw and was only hyped because he fought ali
earnie shavers? Couldn't box his way out of a paper bag, had no cardio, no talent.

   ...

Spinks(He won the first one at the very least)
    Berbick
    Norton
    Shavers
    Spoon
    Evangelista
Mercer( Holmes was like 43 yrs old!)

Not to mention strong performances against Holyfield and McCall when he was ancient.
