You might be right I personally think that Khan doesn't know how to fight any other way So when he gets tagged, he still keeps throwing This has worked against him in the past but it might work in his favor in this fight But whatever the case, its still an intriguing match up I don't see why people are so against it
Ortiz said himself that floyd knocked him to the point that he doesnt even remember being knocked out. That not quitting it is being knocked out
Even if that were true, which I don't believe it is, he still had to sucker punch him to pull that off That "KO" is no indication of Mayweathers general ability to get stoppages at 147
I mean most people should know by now what FLoyd has problems with inside the ring. You have to be bigger than him, stronger than him, have an excellent inside fighting game, and you have to be strong enough to keep him pinned on the ropes while unleashing punches from all angles. What other style is there that can be difficult for him? DOes anyone think Khan is going to be successful by fighting him from a distance? He's a good boxer, but Floyd's one of the greatest ever at it. Remember what happened to Canelo, who's a pretty dam good boxer in his own right? I don't know, I just don't think Khan's style is equipped to beating someone as crafty as Floyd is right now. He might not be the most action-packed fighter, but he knows how to nullify his opposition very effectively, especially anyone idiotic enough to try and box him from a distance or in the pocket. I mean people are trying make Khan out to be a prime Sweet pea.
You tell me? As of now, Khan has only crumbled against true power punchers, Mayweather is'nt that. Even in this Pacquiao fight, we all saw how respectful and overcautious Mayweather was of Pacquiao's speed. Khan is faster than Pacquiao at this point in their careers. Faster and longer, wonder why Mayweather threw his own commitment to fight who the fans chose for him to fight out the window and fought Maidana over the fan choice KHAN??:yep
Floyd doesn't need to be a power puncher. He's just a better, more skilled fighter than Khan. The idea that Khan can outbox Floyd is nothing short of absurd.
From a distance is exactly how Khan would fight Mayweather. Khan keeps himself busier than Mayweather which is how he'd won the exchanges. Alot of us here in this forum ****yzed that Pacquiao did'nt have the size and reach to do much from distance against Mayweather, and that he did'nt have much of a chance because of it because he was'nt a good inside fighter. Khan does have the size and reach to compete at distance. Imo, Mayweather would have to take the fight to the inside against Khan to beat him. Thats where the trouble lies for Floyd. A fighter become more vulnerable on the way into the inside. I can see where the faster more hard hitting Khan could crack Mayweather coming in. Rat tat tat tat, Mayweather never been at the other end of a size and speed disadvatage! Some of you have to realize that under some circumstances, skill does'nt alway pay the bills. I've given examples, Kovalev over Hopkins and Peter over Toney. Hell, Marcos Maidana who's comparable in size to Mayweather was being competitive vs Mayweather exactly because of size. Now you have Khan bringing the size and taking it to a much higher level with quickness and speed Maidana does'nt have.
Khan's power is decent, at best. Floyd has fought harder punchers. Where do you get the idea that Khan's power is trouble? Again, work rate alone doesn't win you rounds. Floyd is better at a distance than Khan.
But its easier to play that defense against much slower guys who dont have the reach that you do. Khan is'nt that fighter.
Khan's problems have materialized when he wants to play the role of a destroyer and throws his physical advantages out the window by going out on a seek and destroy mission and giving his opponent the opportunity to get to him. Khan himself admitted to this and has fought well within himself his last two outings against very good opposition in Collazo and Alexander, which Khan both thoroughly dominated. That type of a mindset in the ring is trouble for Mayweather who's close to turning 40.
Mayweather is not ducking any fighter. He has paid his dues and that's why he took himself out of the rat race. He vacated his titles for those guys to fight over. He is free to fight who ever he wants and I'm ok with that. If he decided to fight Khan then it would only mean as ass whoopin for Khan because contrary to popular belief, he has fought fighters with the dimensions and skill of Khan. He fought Corrales, and when he was 21 he fought a guy by the name of Tony Pep 6'1 with a record of 45 fights, 23 knockouts and I think three loses. The guy was an excellent boxer but Floyd handled he ass with ease. Now I know he's older but he is a lot smarter and Khan would be just another victim.
