It is true that the taller ones usually involve themselves with basketball back home. I can't say I blame them though. Why would I risk my health if I can get as much if not more money playing in the PBA domestic league?

At this point in time I can only see my countrymen being competitive as high as the welterweight class.

250 lbs! You can combine both Juan Manuel & Raphaels weight and they dont weigh 250 lbs! Juan Marquez is 126 lbs, his bother is even tinyer.

Valuev is bigger than his entire family combined.

I'm sure Valuev is bigger than a lot of generations of people.

I want to see him and a minimumweight fighter in the ring at the same time just to see the size differential.

I'm half Filipino. My dad played pro basketball in the Philippines, I inherited his height. I go about 6'2", 235 lbs. Fought when I was younger, but at age 30 I think it's just a bit late for me to make any noise. Maybe my 6 year old son will be the first Filipino heavyweight champ. He was nearly 11 lbs. at birth! If you guys can wait about 13 years he'll be the Filipino Heavyweight saviour!

generally, filipinos are small people like other asians.
so there's a little chance that we can get good pinoy boxers at heavyweight. there isn't just enough talent pool.

maybe some mixed raced filipino but i doubt they will do boxing. most of them do pro-hoops.

Look who he was fighting, the guy was horrendous. Rodriguez has the most padded record I have ever seen. He needs to fight an even some what decent fighter, and that was not it. I am more impressed by Vicious boxer, than Dyer who feasted on guys with 2-25 records.
