Some of you guys are not getting the jest of my thread. ......I'm not talking about not criticizing a fighter. Critiqueing and applauding a fighter is what these forums are all about. What I'm talking about is the humiliation of a fighter by posting pictures such as the one being lobbied around of Paul Williams' face, eyes wide open and totally out. I think that to post such pictures is disrespecting not only Paul Williams and his familiy and friends, but its disrespecting all fighters in general. We can all criticize or applaud Paul Williams without posting a tasteless picture of him in distress, which imo is totally classless. To you *******s......how would you feel if one day Pacquiao gets KTFO cold as Williams did vs Martinez, then the immediately this forum is hoarded with avatars with a full face picture of Pacquiao in that same position that we see of Williams or even worse? Even if you dont like or have hate for a certain fighter, I believe there should be a line of certain respect for all fighters, that we should not cross in order to humiliate them.
Actually, we're not in that much disagreement on this, think. I agree that crap is a little over the top, bordering on juvenile, frankly. What I get pissed about is the fact that some of these people jump all over you if you dare suggest that maybe a KO like this shows that a fighter doesn't take the greatest shot, or something of this nature. These fanboys can't seem to take ANY criticism of their favorite fighters. But yeah, there's a line of "good taste" if you will, that goes beyond reasonable criticism, or internet forum banter. However, as long as teenagers and kids in their early 20s are allowed to post, I don't think there's much you're gonna do about it!
Nice thread Divac.:good I was thinking the same thing about those PW avatars. These clowns aren't real boxing fans, but just cheerleaders for a certain fighter, and have no respect or good taste.
Agreed totally. I´m for one who´s sick and tired of these bs slanderings (midget-smurf, dog-eater etc).
