Don't ever post but quigg was always trying to get kiko out quicker than framton did so people, just think about that....he needed to get the quick stoppage and he obviously planned for that to make himself look great against a Martinez who was looking for the pay day. Just saying like....a bit like how AJ had to dispatch tony Thompson.

    Spot on,

The soft canvass causing Carl to double over and fall backwards from the bodyshot was proper cringeworthy.

The wee fella has no limit to his desperation.

    Framptons bubble has been burst.

Decent fighter, but only off the back of beating lacklustre competition.

Nowhere near as talented as his promotion team would have us beleive.

True say. Quigg's job on Martinez doesn't hold a candle to the devastation wreaked by AJ on Tony Thompson.

Obviously if Carl fights Martinez again he will make Quigg look a mug by knocking Kiko out in the first round....just because he chooses when right?

Quigg looked awful in the first round, genuinely thought he was going to lose then fight off that round. Then 2nd connects with a superb uppercut and finished the job quickly.

Still cant say im convinced by this performance tbh.

    Frampton/Quigg would be a great fight, a true pick'em.

Do us a favour and dont post again. Quigg like 99.9% of boxers is not that good enough to decide which round he wins in. He got the opportunity and finished him. Also Tony Thompson has not fought AJ.

And for the record, Frampton moving up in weight sounds like a terrible idea. He doesn't have the dimensions for featherweight. I'm actually more a fan of Frampton than I am of Quigg (though I don't much like Barry) but that weight drain stuff allied with the soft canvas rubbish sounded like some monumental excuse making.

My fear though is that Uncle Al is throwing them a bone to go up in weight and fight the Mares-Santa Cruz winner. That would be a really good fight (though questionable at the weight) but come on man, anything less than Frampton-Quigg at this point is going to be phenomenally unsatisfying.

Boxing is all about 'well he stopped him in this round so to prove myself I'm gonna get him out quicker'....kingpin 'had never been stopped' bull**** mean that AJ had to destroy him. I'm really happy that Carl got floor tonight because it makes the fight between them now a bigger possibility. For fight casuals it's the ideal scenario....Let's not beat around the bush fights happens because the casuals have a massive pull in this business....I still think Carl wins. for the promoters it gives the opportunity to give the fight more hype. Hopefully the fight gets made now!!
Sorry I meant king pin! Not tony Thompson!!

Wow. Its amazing the difference a fight makes. Your only as good as you last fight has got to be the truest statement out there. Its mad the way everyone says frampton would kill quigg. But now after tonight the tune is completely differently. Do people not have loyalty to fighters and support them the way I do like a football team? Or do they just like jumping on the band wagon of who evers the hot shot of the moment

Funny how peoples' attitudes swing wildly on a pendulum after a fight. One minute, it's easy work for Frampton, the next it's Quigg who'll destroy Carl. Of course, the truth is probably in the middle somewhere. Really believe Quigg v Frampton has the makings of a very competitive fight which could go either way.

I believe Carl is at his best when he boxes intelligently, in and out with good footwork, and plenty of feints, which he did manage to do against Gonzales. It took him a bit to settle down to his boxing after the disastrous first round. This could possibly be a reality check that Carl needs; I felt he and his team were getting a bit too big for their boots with the "I'm the best super-bantamweight" / "I'm the only person that could beat Rigo" / "We're the A-side against Quigg" yadda yadda...If Frampton is to beat Quigg, which I believe he is well capable of doing, he needs the intensity and focus over the twelve rounds; he needs to avoid the carelessness which we saw tonight, and he needs to be patient and explosive when required. He took his eye off the ball a wee bit tonight I felt, probably thought he was going to blast this guy out, but I'm hoping this will bring him back down to earth so he can knuckle down to keep improving

Quigg certainly looked more impressive tonight but a devastating KO always does, even though taking a few shots and then coming back and winning the way Carl did is actually equally impressive.
I still have no idea who would win between the two, I think Carl is slightly more naturally talented, but Quiqq is no-ones fool.
Either way will be a great fight for boxing and the fans.
