:huh A Cruiserweight (one of the very best: Bobby Gunn) v a Lightweight

You know they're proper title fights when the opponent doesn't even get mentioned as TBA

On the first site, they lsit Tommy Hearns as a former champ but show a picture of Hagler

there surely must be some way they can legally get rid of some of these titles. Im pretty sure the board dont sanction WBF/WBU fights anymore.

There are two WBFs as well. We had one fought for in Ireland recently and Henry Coyle will be fighting for the other version in Mayo this month.

you know you're in trouble as an organisation when gene pukall is your heavyweight champ! incidentally, i noticed from the german wbu that here's an aussie cruiserweight (danny price) fighting for the wbu 'world' title soon and his fight after that listed on boxrec is for the NSW area belt, which kind of puts the wbu in perspective!

    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=448689&cat=boxer

the alphabetti-spaghetti titles are a joke of course, but if tacking one of these minor baubles onto a show means the fighters earn more then it's got to be a good thing...

If I ever become a millionaire, one of my aims is definitely to beat a couple of complete bums (paid to fall over in 1 round) then pay to fight for whatever the latest new WBC strap is called.

The stupidest thing is it seems to work as well. We all criticise yet Brian Magee beats a complete bum on the weekend and gets a thread made for him saying "well done" :patsch In a way he probably gets more recognition for that than when he won the Euro title.

That really is ridiculous for a belt everyone knows is worthless, surely the promoters would rather take a cut of that and the fighters would rather get paid a bit more that have some stupid fake title on the line (no Palmer)
