Never mind Enzo Maccarinelli, quaking in his boots, trying to play it down and feeling uncomfortable with any talk of David Haye, and especially of the scary prospect of fighting him if he thinks it could happen. A lot of us have been talking about how good he is for a long time: I wrote a long article on it!
I think everyone now has to recognise that David Haye is one of the world's top fighters, and has every chance of being a future heavyweight champion.
He's not unbeatable, but he's fantastic. He's got power, boxing ability, a decent if not amazing chin, stamina that's improved enough to give it for 12 rounds, and a great boxing brain at last.

He will be a titlist but probably not a champion

He claims the fact he was weight drained effected his ability to take a punch at Cruiser, which is why he was in such trouble in the fourth. This will be the big question for me when he goes up to HW. He has got great speed and power, pretty decent technique and ok stamina, but I have a sneaking suspicion he will get KO'ed by the better HW fighters.

He could very well grab a belt at heavyweight

I agree...but I cannot see him holding on to it for more than 4-5 decent mandatories...it's that chin and relatively poor defense...Best of luck to David, though! :)

4-5 decent mandatories! When was the last time anyone managed that? Lewis? I don't think Wlad has done it yet...

Povetkin will beat him black and blue at heavyweight. Waldo will probably decapitate him. If you think he's the next great HW I suggest waking up.

I think Haye is in a similair position to cotto when he was moving up to welterweight. Moving up a from a division that he struggles a lot to boil down to and which MAY be responsible for his shaky chin, and stamina issues. Compare Cotto now to what he was at 140. At 140 his chin was 'glass' and he was not as fit or strong as he is now. His chin at welterweight is now supposedly better, he has much better fitness and is much stronger.

Whether this will be the case for David Haye as well when he moves up is yet to be seen, but I think it will be a new lease of life for him, he should be far stronger, fitter, faster and it might help his chin. Who knows...
