Trash talk is usually needed to sell a huge ppv fight.... Or to increase buys and get the boxing faternity licking their lips....... Ggg trash talking lemeiux is not something i can see... Or emjoy if i saw..... With 61ko between them... The fight will sell well to alot of fans...... But will lemeiux be the trash talker in this battle of the ko. Kings... Or what aporoach will ggg take to the press confrence

Despite what people might say Golovkin's star continues to grow with every fight. His last fight did 1.3 million views against a nobody. I just hope him being on PPV doesn't stunt his growth.

i supose the big stars will be more intrested in hiw many buys this s does.... To see if the risk is worth it..... I think it will be a huge sucess for ggg first ppv...... If it did 1.2m buys for arguments sake...... I can see the `big stars' suddenly wanting to (or try) fighting ggg

Real fight fans should buy. It's getting casuals at bars and at home to hurry up and buy!!!

$$$ are the key to success. If he pulls 400,000 he will have the third most successful PPV of 2014.

Everybody will want to fight once he establishes himself as a cash cow. Mmmooooo!!!

This PPV is gonna be a shock to Golovkin's fans. He's not a PPV fighter. Very few fighters are.

The fight's going to do surprisingly good numbers, 4-500,000, BUT...

(It's Choclito''s PPV, not GGGs. BRILLIANT move putting him on the bill, I think he sells more tickets than GGG.)

I doubt the fight will do that many buys. Canelo, who has a big Mexican fanbase, only did in the 300k range for his fights with Angulo and Lara.

With the relatively modest guarantees for both fighters, HBO and K2 would likely be very happy to do 300k. The hardcore fans will be excited by Roman/Viloria, but the casual fan won't notice that much.

Just as a reminder, when Floyd started on PPV in 2005, his numbers were modest:

    May/Gatti did 340k
    May/Judah did 375k
    May/Baldomir did 325k

It wasn't until he had a huge "A side" in Oscar and a solid "B" side in Hatton that his ratings took off. If GGG does anywhere close to what Floyd initially did, it will be a huge success. Remember Floyd was a hyped U.S. Olympian and had exposure on HBO for 5 years before taking his talents to PPV. It's only been since September 2012 that I had ever even heard the name Gennady Golovkin.

If GGG can do 250k/300k it would be HUGE for him. Even if most of it is due to Lemeiux.

How would any of it have to be due to Lemieux. He doesn't even have 9K followers on Twitter.

I hope David is being well paid for being on the receiving end of a highlight reel KO. He seems like a solid dude and actually had the cojones to step up and fight the divisions number one.

I'll be rooting for him but think he gets KTFO Rubio style.

    Twitter?

Bute used to get all of Quebec behind him and there were 100 000+ buys for the Froch PPV in QC (look it up on tvasports.ca).

Expecting the same kind of numbers this time around. Bute was originally from Romania... a name doesn't get more Quebecois than David Lemieux. Maybe Martin Tremblay given the Tremblays all over the Saguenay region, but that's beside the point.

Rubio bummed out once he realized he couldnt win.

I think David gives GGG his first real fight in a long time.

@northpaw - I think it depends on your expectations. A week ago I was thinking 200k solid, so 200-225 whereabouts. After the 5k presale and selling all the floor tix just from social media it would be unusual if it did below 300k. Anyone talkin anything over 500k is smoking something, but anything over 200k is a success and anything over 300k is a huge success for this particular fight.
