What Dougas did became the blueprint to fighting Tyson. Holified even said that he studied Douglas's tactics in his first fight against Tyson. He learned that if he could survive early and wear Tyson down, he coud take him out late in the fight. I know Tyson was far past his prime when he fought Holifield, but so was Holified. Plus, Tyson was coming off of some pretty good wins.
yeah, and do you know that after tyson changed his style from a swammer to a brawler, once tyson left rooney, his defensive and offensive changed. he became a one punch ko fighter. exactl what d'mato taught him not to be.and exactly the type of fighter that can get outboxed badly.
:thumbsup Agreed! It's unfortunate the way all that turned out for Tyson. His career would have turned out much differently if he stayed with Rooney. After D'Mato died, everything started falling a part for him.
yeah, but i shows u that even though tyson had talent to be top 5 heavy or even the great heavywieght fighter of all time, he lacked the discipline. not to mention the man's personaol life was one big soap opera. that collaspe in tokyo would have happened sooner or later.
..im not sold as to mike being so 'bad' against douglas..i think that nite douglas was in the zone..it was his nite..he was great that one nite for that one fight..
well, you gotta know tyson. once tyson left rooney, he began to deteriorate as a fighter, in terms of skills. the first signs of it were in the frank bruno fight
Please - I was a fan of Tyson since he started. I read about his potential when he was in the Junior Olympics, and followed his career since. Your comment is stupid and irrelevant. Knowing Tyson's life plays no role in the consistency of the way opponents beat him.
i do agree tyson would have been better off staying with roony..but douglas was also not scared of tyson that nite..he had been through some personal problems himselfe..but he rose to the occation big time..it could have been anyone in there with douglas that nite holyfield anyone..and douglas would have won..it was his nite..
again, fear has little to do with it. douglas technically outboxed tyson and beat the crap out of him. he waited till tyson was planted fired the jab and took advantage of what he saw in front of him. razor ruddock was scared of tyson, tucker wasnt scraed of tyson. bruno was game in their frist fight, etc. douglas definetly rose to the ocassion but tyson was a 42-1 underdog for a reason, he was suppose to beat douglas but on that night, douglas was the man prepared and ready to get the job done.
chances are ali would win but you never know...if cooper could put ali down and almost out than tyson might of finished him with a clean power punch.
exactly, cooper nearly put out ali. think they had to come out with a b.s. excuse about ali fixing his gloves, to give ali mreo time to recovier. more then likey ali would win but tyson is definately a threat.
