:? How are there not dozens more Saucedo vs. Rodríguez threads?

I was expecting to have to create a merge dump.

 

The co-featured bout on the card is another ten-round domestic lightweight clash.

Manuel Dionisio Echenique vs. Jorge Samuel Fredes is a lower-level match-up to be sure but features a pair of fit and hard-nosed twenty-somethings (both Saucedo and Rodríguez are past the age of thirty) who ought to provide sparks.

Echenique was subjected last year to maybe the oddest suspension I've ever heard of in the sport, when the FAB shelved him for the crime of facing too many subpar opponents in a row (with a couple of losing-record tomato cans followed by someone in their pro debut, whom Echenique knocked out in 2) - even though, paradoxically it was the FAB themselves who sanctioned all those bouts. :huh :huh :huh Since then, Echenique has improved his quality of competition substantially - and has a 2-3 mark to show for it. :!:

Fredes has a broken-even record at 14-14, but has been matched tough and springs the occasional upset. This is a close fight on paper.

The highest aspiration for either, beyond sharing a TV bill with Saucedo (a massive superstar on the Argentine scene, compared with either of them, or Rodríguez) would be a shot at current FAB lightweight champion Pablo Martín "Bad Boy" Barboza. That prize could be Saucedo's if he wanted it, but may be a bit small-fry to his tastes having already mixed at the world class stage.

 

Is there going to be a stream for the weigh-in tomorrow? I'm thinking of telling my family to cancel our Christmas this year so I can host a weigh-in viewing party instead.
