Do you think either of these fighters could have won a world title in their first pro fight?

World title fights are 12-rounders but they were going 8s and 10s with Hearns (Breland) and Leonard (Jones) regularly.

I find it baffling that you comment on a fight you haven`t even seen

Julian Jackson would have destroyed Jones in 1988-89 he knocked out Terry Norris in 89! Norris would have destroyed Jones in 89! Jones turned pro at light heavy, Nunn was the middleweight IBF champ when Jones turned pro, do you think Jones could have beat Nunn in his first pro fight? Duran won the WBC title in 89 by beating Barkley, McCallum was the WBA champ and there`s no way Jones could have beat him in his first pro fight, maybe he could have won the WBO title at that stage. Curry was the welterr champ when Breland turned pro and would have killed him in 84-85, look what Starling did to Breland in 88 and Curry beat Starling twice.

Forget that fight and Hagler and Hearns, nothing tops a Bulldog and Mark Ant back and forth

It`s an amateur fight when both these fighters turned pro they were not world class, a few of G-man`s early pro opponents went the distance, Steward had to work on G-man`s body mechanics to turn him into the killer that he went on to become, Hearns was another puncher that didn`t have power as an amateur.

McClellan turned professional in 1988. Trained by hall of fame trainer Emanuel Steward, his early career was notable for a propensity for quick victories by knockout: only two of his first 29 fights went beyond the third round, although he lost both of those on the scorecard (in 6 rounds against Dennis Milton, 8 against Ralph Ward, in successive fights.

G-man lost two of his first 29 pro fights, there`s no way he peaked in the amateurs.
