It was a Heavyweight world title fight mate, at no point did things get that bad for Briggs for the ref to stop the fight.

You could say maybe Briggs corner should have pulled him out....

To be fair, I don't think there was a real opportunity for the ref to stop it unless Briggs or his corner wanted to.

Briggs took some real punishment though and he's going to have a sore head in the morning.

 

Felt bad for Briggs, he was just getting beaten around in there, he didn't have anything to offer other than as a target.

Most likely not, well he clearly doesn't, but we didn't see Lewis fighting at 40 years old.

Taking into account the huge volume he throws, with punches that are clearly pretty heavy, I think he has a pretty formidable offence.

 

I'm not convinced. A proper puncher in his prime would spark Williams. Not let him get up again and again.

Yes, thats not in doubt. However, I tried telling the General forum many a time he's not a huge puncher by historical heavyweight standards and all I heard was 'highest KO ratio in heavyweight history' and such. He isn't even the best puncher around today, Wlad and Haye hit harder punch for punch. Haye would have knocked Briggs down at least.

C'mon, he's a very good fighter, or at least was.

He's still doing it at 40, Hopkin's gets lorded for still doing around that age.

Wlad is boring as hell to watch, but I really don't get why Vitali gets so much hate and stick.

How could Tyson be anywhere near the puncher he was? He's said himself speed was critical. And thats fairly obvious, its what made him explosive as a puncher.
