I hate that I missed the Torres fight - but I was watching Wrestlemania. *hangs head in shame*

UFC needs to just swallow the WEC

It would really elevate these weight classes and give the fighters the recognition they deserve.

People would pay for a Miguel Torres ppv if it had the UFC brand behind it.
And that Curran/Benavidez fight was SICK too.

Zuffa owns both companys and the WEC gets plenty of promoting behind it.

I know Zuffa owns WEC.. but I dont see the point of having a totally separate company for the bantamweights and featherweights . These guys could pack arenas if they had the UFC name behind them. WEC doesnt carry the same weight.

When do you see empty seats at WEC shows?

The roar at the end of Torres-Mizugaki was plenty loud.

What a war! I had Torres winning the fight by a round. Credit to Mizugaki, I knew he would be competitive but I didn't think he would go the distance with Torres. He took the fight on short notice which makes it even more impressive. Bowles is next for Torres but hopefully we see a rematch in the future.

Do you really not understand that the UFC is a much bigger show?

The bonuses for WEC 40 were 10k
The bonuses for Ultimate Fight Night last week were 30k
And if you ask me.. and most real mma fans.. Torres-Mizugaki is a bigger fight than Condit vs Kampmann.

At UFC PPV's bonuses are like 50k+. I heard for UFC 100 the bonuses were going to be 100k.

Miguel Torres has talked about moving up to 155lb so he can get paid... which would be a shame. He will get destroyed at 155 in the UFC!

Eh, it is what it is. You may be right that he deserves more than lesser talents who get bigger paydays just because they happen to campaign at higher weights under the UFC banner, but I'm still not shedding any righteous tears for somebody who gets paid 10k for a night's work (and maybe a few weeks worth of training). :yep

The WEC has its own brand identity and its own fanbase. The fact that these guys are competing on TV and getting paid in quadruple figures at all instead of getting banged up for little rinky-dink regional promotions means that they've 'made it'. I don't see there being a problem with keeping up the status quo.
