Where's the love for the little guys? Enough of this bull**** with James Toney, we have some of the best Mixed Martial Artists in the world fighting tomorrow at WEC 47. Brian Bowles makes his first defence as bantamweight champ against Dominic Cruz. Miguel Torres makes his comeback against Joseph Benavidez. Plus Jens Pulver, Scott Jorgensen and other exciting little guys. This is a great card imo. I'm especially looking forward to Miguel Torres coming back. The guy got knocked out hard last time but I think he'll make a great comeback against Benavidez. He's a very talented fighter, but he gets very careless at times. It will be interesting to see if he becomes more patient as he says he will. Hopefully he will remain a very exciting fighter though and build his way back up to become champ again. Can't wait!!! Thoughts?
This is the first time Torres has had to go back to the drawing board; what dimensions he's added or tweaked is a very intriguing angle. Everybody close your eyes and click your heels together for a Jens win. He needs it.
I think im coming to terms with it that Jens is shot. I saw brief clips of a sparring session recently between him and Scott Jorgensen. Jens had no reflexes at all.
Good card. My only complaint is we (in the UK) don't get to see these WEC fights live. ESPN need to sort out a deal with Zuffa. :deal
Definitely, they need to sort that **** out. You would think, seeing as WEC is owned by Zuffa, it would pretty straightforward for ESPN to get the WEC events as well.
Anybody feeling an upset with Cruz? No?...Just me? Should be a good card. Look forward to seeing Jens disappoint me again and Miguel Torres-Benividez. I think that'll be your fight of the fight.
I like the idea of merging the UFC and the WEC. It would have a number of benefits: MMA fans outside North America would get to watch featherweight and bantamweight fights The UFC would have two more championships they can use to headline cards The UFC roster would be strengthened, allowing them to put on higher quality events Fighters at 135lbs and 145lbs would get a major increase in pay and exposure From what I can see, the only losers would be the WEC lightweights, many of whom would find it tough going in the UFC 155lbs division.
