Screw that. I'm happy avoiding MMA heavyweights (which interest me even less than boxing heavyweights) by watching WEC and not UFC. I'll gladly pay PPV money to keep watching lower-weight guys too - just as soon not have them mixed. HW and LHW are historically MMA's glamor divisions (as unlimited is in boxing) but give me everything up to WW and keep the rest. :good
Ah we clearly differ then, there is nothing I like better than seeing the big men square off in the cage, and I think the MMA heavyweight and light-heavyweight divisions are in excellent shape at the moment. That being said I'd choose skill over weight every time. I'd much rather watch Bowles/Cruz than Butterbean/Sapp!
You can get a high quality stream from the WEC website for $4.99 if you are willing to watch it on your PC. I've also heard these crazy rumours that you can watch many things on the internet without actually paying for them, though I personally don't know anything about that...
Well to be fair Jose Aldo is somewhat of a beast I do agree though. The thing with me is Bowles got tagged by Torres and has always been a little wild in my estimation. He and Cruz are similar fighters and I'm certainly not ruling out a well placed left hand to sort of put that on ice.
damn that pulver loss made me feel bad (no homo) its time to retire for sure. Torres has NEVER impressed me and its a shame because i really wanted to buy the hype i really did. Torres looked good on the ground but for a guy thats suppose to be a striker everything he threw was telegraphed like hell.
Horrible loss for Torres, split open and choked out. You have to wonder if the loss to Bowles has damaged him mentally.
We got this one! :good (you in this thread, me in the MMA prediction league) The dust has settled now at bantamweight after following the same pattern as 145 (long-reigning dominant champ and p4p fighter is beaten by one strong little ******* of a wrestler, who in turn loses to a BEAST) and now has its own answer to Aldo. I'm not comparing Cruz to Aldo, but after this thorough domination of Bowles, and already having a win over Benavidez (who just raped Torres) his stock goes up and he appears to have the same kind of throttle on the division that Aldo is perceived to now have. Did I mention Torres got raped? So did Danny Castillo. Jens...:verysad Jorgensen is just ridiculously cool and confident. You get the impression he'd stare down a polar bear. (the polar bear would be like "wtf? that spot pattern doesn't occur in nature...this **** has me bugging, i'm outtie") Taurosevicius-Davis was...not good. :barf "Technical". Ha. Yeah, right. I enjoy watching truly technical MMA...like Anderson Silva. My tolerance and appreciation for technical extends to Cory Spinks boxing matches. This wasn't "technical", it was a boring stalemate. Palaszewski vs. Darabedyan was indeed a great appetizer for this absolute feast of a card. 48 IS GOING TO BE AMAZING...WAR ALDO! WAR FABER! WAR CERRONE! WAR HENDERSON! I'd pay $100 for that ****.
I'm starting to think that as well, unfortunately. I haven't seen the fights yet but from the reports I've read he was gun shy and dominated by Benavidez.
He was game enough - it was more or less the same old Torres, he just wasn't exploding like he used to, which was probably smart as he didn't want to underestimate a good fighter again. Certainly at the end of the 1st round nobody knew he was about to get raped, it still seemed to be anybody's fight (though Benavidez was probably up 10-9). He boxed well the first couple of minutes, and when they went to the ground he was striking intelligently off his back, using his heels, and stuffed all Benavidez's earlier attempts. He doesn't deal well with strong guys with a good center of balance.
