Oscar hasn't done a fight night weigh in since 2003. It has nothing to do with hiding his weight. It has to do with trying to cut down pre-fight distractions for things that aren't needed. Don't act like you are being a brain wizard by predicting something that is obvious.
i don't want to be a ***** but the size to me is irrelevant. PLENTY of people have moved up and the bigger man doesn't get the flake: 1)Griffith vs. Monzon- Monzon was WAYYYY bigger and Griffith was way past prime 2)Hagler vs. Duran-a fighter, whose prime came 25 pounds lighter, found a man naturally far larger. moved up and took out champions from divisions on the way up but jumped way above his prime to take on the best (and biggest) fighter out there. hagler wasn't abused and duran made a hell of a fight out of it 3)Hagler vs. Leonard-welterweight. retired for 5 years (forget the tune up). won it. oops 4)Hopkins vs. Delahoya-fighter who started 30 pounds lighter, fought divisions in between, only one fight at middleweight, jumped up 6 pounds from natural weight and 13pounds from last successful weight to take on champ. Hopkins gets no flake (pac is jumping only 12 pounds from last weight, just saying) 5)Holmes vs. Spinks-Spinks jumps from Light Heavy to Heavy. No tune up against top 10 all time heavy. 6)Tarver vs Hopkins-Hopkins jumps 15 pounds. Pac is jumping 12. Seriously, I know, Oscar is doing is for the money. So did everyone else on this list. You bash him, you bash them. It's boxing, fight the best and biggest fights out there. The hatred on Oscar far outweighs the love; no one is objective about him or this fight.
DAMN! atsch i'm glad I read that. I was just about to make an idiot of myself by saying "There doesn't seem to be as much of a height differential as everyone is trying to make it seem." atsch
Except for Duran, those were all much bigger framed men than Pac able to carry the weight. In some cases they had been starving themselves and moving up actually made them better. I don't think this is the case with Pac.
Word is that Manny weighed himself in his room and he weighed 144, 2 lbs more than he weighed at the official weigh-in.
total farce of a fight on Delahoya's partm manny weighed what 142, oscar 145 by 2morrow oscar is prolly gonna hyrdrate to well over 160. manny probably up a couple pounds. I hope manny woops his ass
