I'm beginning to hate boxrec atsch 60s Ali's best weight was around 210. He trimmed down for the Cooper fight specifically, and he was lighter than usual for his other European fights that summer. A guy weighing 210 is NOT a cruiserweight. He potentially could make cruiser if such a division had existed back then, but the same goes for any heavyweight weighing less than 220. Ali was a good sized heavyweight for the era, and unless he bulked up would be a smallish heavyweight in today's era. Enough with the cruiserweight ****.
Golovkin hits hard because he's KO'd most of his opponents, many people have ducked him and he spars with CW's and HW's and hurts them also.
Bingo. The type of weight, and how you can leverage it matter much more than the weight itself. A 160 pound, in shape guy hitting through his target with proper technique will generate much more force than 200 pound out of shape guy with poor technique. Thomas Hearns is a perfect example of using leverage to generate power. As a tall, lanky guy I studied him a lot.
weight helps, but it has more to do in technique. Imagine Butterbean, a heavy fatlard heavyweight fighting a much leaner haye. Haye would land harder punches than lardbeans.
Your right, the overrating of Golovkin just annoys me, there are plenty of fighters that are power punch's who have KOed good fighters Martinez, Mattyhse, Haye, Judah, Froch, Kessler Golovkins best KO is against a past his prime fighter.
