All I can find is this, from last year, tabulating just the females:

I'm positive about having done it for the men at some point before that...but that is where having almost 107k posts gets tricky. It was hard enough to unearth the above post (after poring through several pages' worth of search results for the keyword 'active').

Without some other keyword likely to pull it up ("currently", maybe?) this is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Putting in the name of each specific division is going to still yield tons of results, with eight years' worth of posting. Besides, if they were abbreviated to HW/CW/LHW/SMW etc then it's useless to search that way anyhow.

Not itemized and broken down by division, but I stumbled across this info from a post by someone else:

"According to Boxrec, there were approx. 14,700 active boxes in 2008.
By the end of 2010 there were approx 16,300."

So there was a 10% rise from 2008 until 2010. There has been a 13% rise from 2010 until now. (18,341)

Nearly a 25% swelling of the ranks in five years.

Boxrec getting more records or an actual increase? Wouldn't have guessed that boxing was getting so many more pros.

Thought I'd help out and tried a google search instead. No luck but found a nice article on Ingo's bingo. :good

I have seen this done on another site though. Sherdog or boxrec. Will try that when I get a minute.

Well, it was hardly as though Boxrec were still in a period of infancy by 2008. That is several years after it was launched (during the final couple of years of Prince Naz's career, founded by a member of his team originally for internal tracking purposes) and the bulk of the database had been established with backdates filled in already for a few years by then.

Certainly it was as developed in 2010 as now. So I think for whatever reason we are seeing a genuine increase. That would make a very stimulating case study as to how and why.

It's too bad that Boxrec doesn't have customizable sorting filters like "date of debut" so we could do some basic arithmetic, subtracting the # of guys who debuted in the last two years from the current total and seeing whether it matches the sum from 2010.

...or a resurgence of amateur development and recruitment & cultivation of youth (through Police Athletic Leagues, neighborhood gyms, or wherever)

The question then becomes - which ones? Where? ...and how are they able to drum up interest and dodge the firestorm of parental resistance with the never-faded stigma on boxing now probably exacerbated by all the deaths of minors caused by head injuries from a supposedly 'safer' sport, football?

How accurate is boxrec? Is an obscure Russian or Asian fighter guaranteed to be on their database? Not sure how they work, all countries have different pro bodies so assume as soon as a fighter register with them, it automatically links to boxrec?
