Thread may have been done before so apologies but always found weight cutting interesting

What are best or most common techniques and worst but effective

And any good stories true or rumours or some mad stories of weight cutting leading up to or on nite weigh in

Watched the documentary Dean garnet ufc fighter few years back looked brutal just sweating like a madman hours just got me thinking must be shattered on fight night is it such an advantage or would be more energy sapping. If weigh up the two ( excuse the pun ) in long run what be better cut weight (weight advantage but shattered) or move up fight natural bigger guys

Getting the diet and exercise ratio right is the most effective way. Your body gets used to how much water you have onboard and keeping the body going. Guys like Floyd, Bhop who are always in shape never have to drain always seem to go on the longest.

Guys who go up and down the weights or pile on weights always come unstuck at some point. Look at Hatton who eventually hit the wall after doing it for years. Amir Khan balloons in weight a bit and only gets in shape for fights. I always think the guys who stay in shape have better endurance, and their chins hold up longest.

Saunas, sitting in bin bags, nil by mouth and working out have all been used as well as diuretics etc. Making weight might be the hardest bit of the fights. There was a female MMA fighter awhile back in was being held up at the weigh in because she was so drained.

Most guys try to aim to hit weight just for that one moment on the scales and then re-hydrate from the minute they get off them. Look at Aurto Gatti and how much he used to re hydrate over night. I think weight cutting is an excepted practice now. I always think the US fighters use this a lot look at the likes of Broner or Spence how much bigger they often look on fight night VS the guy they are fighting.
