I disagree with them beeing #1 and #2. A case for Sanchez could be made for beeing above both or at least one and personally I think Armstrong should be above both. Still great that these two met.

He is one of the only featherweights that would be able to match Saddler for strength and be able stand up to him, thats a great match thats a pick em fight for me, maybe favouring Armstrong but Saddler is one of the hardest men to beat in history

Saddler is definitely a monster head to head at his very best.

Sanchez was a great fighter no doubt but to put him over a many yrs proven FWT like Pep is wrong, I think Pep outboxes him in a H2H as well.

There was never a better `boxer` than Willie Pep, Sanchez was a boxer himself 1st & foremost, he aint outboxing a prime Pep.

Read again what I wrote. I said a case can be made. I didn't say he should be.

...so you would rank Charles in the same spot if he had never fought Moore?

    Argueably

Henry Armstrong vs Barney Ross (althought it was at WW you could arguably hve them 1 and 2 at Lightweight)

Although i dont think Ross is ranked in the top 3 H2H at Lightweight he definitly was a great boxer his versatility is some of the best i have ever seen.

Despite the fight being at featherweight, George Dixon and Terry McGovern were the two best bantems up to the point where they met, and for some time after. You could make a case for them being the two best feathers as well.

Billy Smith and Tommy Ryan (allong with Walcott) were the consensus best welters for decades.

No. I thought you were trying to raise Charles even more in the all time rankings when he's quite high enough on most people's list as it is. Had he not fought Moore, he'd have still been ranked among the top 20 fighters of all time, right alongside him. Those wins push him over the edge and into the top 10.
