Legit titles or not, these guys show that the number of weight divisions out there is a bad joke.

Are you really that thick? what does that have to do with with a win being official or not? DLH over Sturm, Tito over DLh and PBF over Castillo are all in the record books as official, get it!

I could not have made it any clearer!:patsch

When was Toney ever a 6 weight champion ? He wont legit titles at 160,168,190 thats it. If you are counting the bull**** belt he captured at 175 and the belt he used steroids to get at Heavy thats still only 5.

There are a huge amount of weight divisions but they are actually there for a reason(and it's actually other than greed) and that's that difference in weight does actually mean quite a lot .

Under your system there would almost certainly be more dehydrating to make weight as the punishment for not being able to make 126 is to have to fight up at 140 and the punishment for not being able to make 160 is having to fight at 182 .

I'd nearly leave things as they are as regards weight . I'd rename Light-Flyweight , Minimumweight and remove the current Minimumweight division as it currently is . Boxrec only has just over 250 Minimumweights ranked, so only that number has fought in the last year .

Light-Flyweight has about 400 ranked, so forcing the fighters from the division below into that division would strenghten it . A three pound difference does have some significance but it's not absolutely huge and there is a difference between removing 105 and removing 115 .
If you remove the current Minimumweight the fighters have to move up to Light-Fly(108 ). If you remove Super-Flyweight then not only do the fighters from that have to move up to Bantam(118 )but anytime a Flyweight has to move up he has to go up 6 lbs in weight . The difference between 112 and 118 is huge and too much for your average fighter to make the jump from .

Tonight a World ranked Bantamweight(Tsifiwa Munyai) fought a decent domestic level Featherweight(Akaba) in England . Akaba won, he was just too strong and floored Munyai along the way but even so Munyai is a much more talented fighter when everything is taken into account . But the 8 lbs difference at that weight was just too much for him .

    My system:
    Minimumweight-108
    Flyweight-112
    Super-Flyweight-115
    Bantamweight-118
    Super-Bantamweight-122
    Featherweight-126
    Super-Featherweight-130
    Lightweight-135
    Light-Welterweight-140
    Welterweight-147
    Light-Middleweight-154
    Middleweight-160
    Super-Middleweight-168
    Light-Heavyweight-175
    Cruiserweight-200
    Heaavyweight-200+

Now I'd say you could probably cut that down another weight division without affecting things too badly if you were prepared to change the weight of what every weight class is now but personally I'm against changing the established weight of the original 8 classes.

I agree. There are far too many divisions and it is just plain ridiculous that within mere 15 pounds (that what Hopkins jumped from middle to lhw) the small guys can be 5 division (FIVE!!!!) champion. Add another 3 pounds and 6 divisions...?!?!

    Flyweight-112
    Super-Flyweight-115
    Bantamweight-118
    Super-Bantamweight-122
    Featherweight-126
    Super-Featherweight-130

Although there is some relativity in it, it is still ridiculous. For example, the world champion in hotdog eating is a small 120 pound japanese guy. Now he puts on about 20 pounds in one day during his competitions. He is able to put on and take off more weight than big 250 pound guy he competes with.

At the end of the day, such small differences are meaningless and absurd. The absolute minumum between any two weight classes should be 6 pounds or more. I would personally prefer a minimum of 8 pounds.

I dont have a problem with the weight divisions now... the only thing I would consider is moving the LH and Cruiser limit up a bit... I think it is good that we have it this way... The biggest problem lately with fighters is not moving up in weight, but moving down.... They're skipping divisions and drying themselves out....

Librado Andrade vs. Felix Sturm~?? lol

Poor Raul Marquez wouldnt fair so well.... It's these sanctioning bodies that are the biggest problem... The weight classes are fine... Plus I think some of the division go by the amateur system's weight class, not all of them...
