Cut, exactly? McClellan, Eubank, Fenech, Gatti? Baldomir supposedly walked around as a damned cruiserweight or some such.
Eubank purportedly used to weigh near 182 in the ring for his 168 title fights,i dont think he really got much over this in between fights,he was 187 at the start of training for the calzaghe fight. Mclelland used to come in the ring at 174-176 for his 160 title fights and was probably a little over this between fights. Gatti once weighed 160 (maybe fully clothed or on a dodgy scale or both.) for a 140 fight!!!!!!! And gatti allegedly walked around at 165 or so in his later career at 140. Fenech i have no idea... I would, however, take all these figures from pros with a pinch of salt, hatton allegedly weighed in at 155 for most of his 140 fights and walked around at 180 or so between fights,BUT,he always looked the smaller man in his title fights and especially at 147..... Being heavier in the ring or having a greater walk around weight doesnt mean your always the bigger man in the ring, sometimes it just means you get way out of shape in between fights or made weight in the last minute and so came into the ring after re-hydrating with a lot of water weight and bloat...
Daniel Santos came in as a ****ing lightheavyweight when he fought at junior middleweight against Margirito a few years ago.
Anyone remember Clottey and Corrales almost being LHW or some ridiculous **** when they weighed in a little over the WW limit for their fight?
Clottey vs Zab...Zab actually only weight a pound or so over the welter limit come fight time, Josh was a middleweight by then. Gatti vs Joe Hutchinson was pretty bad..Arturo outweight him by 4 or 5 pounds at the weigh in..Then he looked like a supermiddle in there compared to poor lil Joe. Im not sure how much he weighed but he was certainly a lot bigger. Fenech would have been cutting something fierce for his bantam and superbantam fights..He has been accused of his cheating at the weigh ins before, with his team leaning on the scales to slightly tip them under the weight. Once the weight was announced officially he would run to a waiting bowl of pasta, starting scoffing it down as the other team tried to protest and get him to weight in again. Of course he said he wouldnt come in under now. I think its hard to get real figures that are actually verifiable.
Mosley vs Mayorga. Mayorga was 170 pounds for a 154 fight. Hatton is also a popular example, walking sometimes around 180 I think.
He is a dick and you will be not suprised to find out he may be in trouble with the law again for king hitting one of his best and oldest mates. Great fighter though.
The thing is do they strip down to weigh in for a second weigh in or do they weigh in with their shorts/schoes etc which all carry weight
You only walk around wearing about 3 pounds of clothes at most, even with shoes, so even if they weigh in clothed it's still an absurd weight gain.
yeah the commentators were surprised by corrales being 160, and in decent shape...then they wieghed clottey who has always been cut and muscular.......170-172 pounds :blood. cotto wieghed a near middleweight or a bit over and corley being 145 judah vs clottey: judah 148 or 150 i think, clottey on the other hand is a solid 165 but to your title subject about are guys who are big outside the ring ect joe calzaghe weighed about 180-190 and weighed not much more than 170 against lacy and woodhall.
The worst all time was Gatti against Gamache. Gatti didn't even weigh in properly, he just jumped on and off the scale, and the commissioner yelled "140!". Gamache's career was ended because of that cheating scumbag, and he almost got killed as well. Nothing made me happier than seeing Gatti get his ass beat by Baldomir and Gomez.
