is it a wise idea to work the legs with some explosive weight training?

Personally i would only ever do squats, i wont make it complicated. theres no need as this is boxing, we need explosive power not nice shaped legs like bodybuilders.

will this affect my flexibility in my legs? even if i stretch?
i know all weight training must be stopped atleast 1 week b4 a fight, preferably 2-3 weeks b4.

or shall i leave the squats and stick with sprints?

Can anyone give me some good advice?
    thank you:thumbsup

    Squats are all about power..

Something you might try for explosiveness would be sprints with bungee.. Seen setups where a trainer can trail you, you start off on an explosive sprint and the resistance from a type of bungee cord can help build you up.

If you live near the ocean, sprints on the sand.

    Sure it is.
    Strong legs are key.
And weights won't make you bulky slow, whatever, if you train them for power. Or if you don't eat a ton to get you growing.
