scrap show onepunch the video of pete on the line and they will see how to move the head using the knees and feet, im sure that video is in a stickied post on eastside.

onepunch you are right your head can turn slightly when throwing punches it depends how much you dedicate to the punch. otherwise you would be facing away from where you punch however it doesnt move forward or backwards as the punch takes place, if your head moves forward your reaching and distributing too much on the front leg and its costing you a fast backwards retreat. if your say 90% on the back foot then you will lose a quick advance however there is more allowance with being on the back foot because of where your knee is your able to still drive in any direction.

If your head moves forward it shows you (aswell as a bad idea in the ring), your momentum is being rotated but then lunged forward at the same time.. aim for pure rotation, dont let the head move, only rotate, what it all comes down to is posture, if you support your head this way your supporting your spine and hips as a nice side effect throughout the punch, maintaining good posture throughout the shot therefore allowing the pelvis to fully rotate aslong as the feet and knees allow for the rotation.

But your head does occupy the same point in space, your body has rotated and your head has stayed in the same place it was before the punch. Your head hasn't turned or moved, your body has. Sometimes you will move your head if you really commit to the shot, but that's when you're gonna be in a worse position/ off balance.

So rotating your head doesn't count as movement?

What lefty is saying is you shouldnt be committing that much, if you do and that shot is being countered then your going to have trouble getting out of the way as quickly as you could if you hadnt dedicated so much, your doing that lawyer thing again when your nitt picking through text, what he meant in general is that the head doesnt move from the place its in when the strike starts, extends and finishes the head never re-locates, so neither does your spine, or your pelvis, pure rotation, **** posture stops the pelvis from rotating properly and causes injury, slows, wastes energy, weakens shots, etc, etc.
