I'm trying to do weighted dips and pullups a bit more and so far I've made do by strapping plates to my belt or putting them in a backpack. Both of these methods are ****. How pricey are weighted vests and how heavy can you get them? Any other ideas? Cheers.

I just use a big backpack and throw the plates in there and haven't had problems - why is it one for you?

It broke the zip on my work bag. It's not a massive problem, just wondered if there was a better way.

Ideally, I'd like to perform these exercises without looking like a bondage lord.

Have a friend hang on your back. As you progress, get fatter friends.

Thats pretty good if you are able to do weighted dips and especially weighted pullups. I know you were probably joking when you call yourself weak and whatnot, but that shows you are making good progress on being able to do weighted pullups.

I dont really have many fitness goals but one of my goals is to move on to doing sets up pull ups with out assistance. I can do a few but not enough repetitions to make it worthwhile yet. I do the machine assisted version and lat pulldowns and am getting closer to my goal over time.

There's a key difference here, dumb dumb. Your gym equipment (silky gloves) makes things easier for you by stopping the nasty metal bars hurting your pwetty little fingies. My weighted vest (although as gay as a window) will do nothing but make my pullups and dips harder.

Therefore, weighted vest KO1 silky mittens.

Na I'm not really making a lot of progress. In a motnh or two I went from being able to do 1-2 chin-ups, to being able to do 9-10, but since then I've not improved whatsoever. That's why I want to add a little weight and start all over again.

The weighted dips aren't too much of an achievement either, but they make a change from my bench press routine.

Gloves increase grip, allowing you to lift heavier :think
