What’s in a word? EVERYTHING! The key thing to understand about supplements is the word itself, supplement. They exist to supplement your diet. They are not a magic bullet. They will not make you stronger on their own. Only steroids do that. You have to view supplements as simply filling in the holes that your normal lifestyle leaves. When I was in college I couldn't eat 6-7 times a day. The cafeteria was only open 3 times a day. I also couldn't eat well rounded meals in my dorm. A minifirge cant hold pounds of greens for nice salads. But I could easily cooks some rice in the rice cooker, blend up some protein, add in a few baby carrots and a multivitamin to make up for the lack of veggies and call it a meal. The key is I didn't view the protein or vitamins as some magic bullet. It was simply the protein portion and vitamins of my meal because I couldn’t keep enough chicken and greens. It supplemented my diet.
