I have recently gone back to boxing after about an 8 year break during which time I worked out with weights. Since starting boxing again I have stopped using weights and I feel that my punching power has improved without weights, my leverage and speed is better and Im hitting the bags and pads harder than when I trained with weights.

I was wondering if anyone has had the same results or if their power improves with weight training as part of their routine ?

it depends how you train with weights..........trained properly i believe they can give advantages,
but every person its an individual...so same things can work for one and not for the other.
stick with what works for you!

When you stop using weights after using them for an extended period that's when you'll have a greater increase in fast twitch fibres which would likely explain your experience.

I know what you mean after having a similar situation a few years ago. I agree that there are SOME ways of weight training that can be useful assistance exercises but you don't become a boxer by lifting weights in the gym. Your central nervous system is beginning to recall the technique and as your muscles loosen up your body will become more efficient at delivering the punches, both speed and power.

Explain. I don't see any proof of anything.

For the 1,000th time, weight training can improve punching power if done correctly.

The main reason boxers slow down when they weight train is because they don't know how to train. They start putting more and more time into strength training and less and less time actually boxing.

As Windogo said Westside's dynamic days are a great way to improve power.

Very true. If you stop training bocxing you won´t be as fast. it´s not the weights that slows you down in a way, it´s the lack of boxingtraining that does. You have changed from being a boxer to a weightlifter you could say.
If you just train boxing and then stop and do nothing else you still gonna loose speed, cause you don´t train it as much anymore
