i remember it like yesterday, watching vitali´s comback spectacle on german broadcast. seeing all these alltime greats in small trailers before the actual fight, i was surprised that each and every one of them only well wished klitschko, openly rooting for him, saying (paraphrasing): i´ll keep my fingers crossed, good luck for your comeback ... etc. etc., which annoyed the hell out of me. i thought: wait! - this is supposed to be a fair contest, isn´t it? may the better man win etc. has this ever happened before in the history of boxing? i remembered old championship films, where ex-champs were introduced in the ring and always went in both corners to both fighters wishing them well. this big prefight extravaganza was so different this time, so one sided, none of the mentioned ex-champs were actually there, so it was well choreographed and staged in advance. i was amazed that lennox lewis, george foreman and the others went with it. it felt like the powers that be had already decided who should and would win this competition, long before the fight had started. bad sportsmanship. it just felt so wrong.
