With his fight against Broner last night, Pacquiao became only the 19th boxer in history to earn his membership card to the "25 consecutive years club". At the same time he joined an even more exclusive club: for boxers who have engaged in world title fights, when in their teens, their 20s, their 30s and their 40s. In fact, this club is so exclusive, that Manny is the only member, so far... and I doubt, this will change anytime soon!
Very impressive. He's obviously a long way away from what he was, naturally, but it's amazing he's performing at the level he is now, especially considering his style.
Pac has accomplished so much. One could only imagine what he could have done more if he didn't get into politics and become a Senator and his life started spiraling out of control, big time. I'm happy for him he got his life on back on track. He reminds of Hearns in a lot of ways that he just wanted to fight everyone and be the best .. something that boxing has lost with most fighters over the years
Usually when you compare contemporary greats to the best old timers, the old timers surpass the modern greats in paper accomplishments. That is usually your trump card when arguing the old timers case. Here we have a guy in our time, who is setting records, that surpass anything that has gone before.
