Murray did not win the Abraham fight, period. I've seen a lot have Abraham winning, like myself. I've only seen a very few have Murray winning that fight.

I don't think it's a fair assessment, though. I don't see a lot of light heavyweights having the same success at cruiserweight, but I still think light heavyweight is currently better than the cruiserweight division.

In the same breath, A LOT of the super middleweights would get absolutely trounced at light heavyweight. Should we say the same criticism about DeGale staying in a dead division like super middleweight instead of moving up to fight at light heavyweight? I mean DeGale just fought Bute and Dirrell. Between the two, the best recent win on either's resume is Derek Edwards. Let that sink in for a minute. Why doesn't he move up and challenge himself against Kovalev, Beterbiev, Alvarez, Gonzalez, Shabranskyy, or Stevenson?

I'm sure that the fight is available on YouTube somewhere.

I'm well aware that Froch won. However it is obvious that the fight wasn't even close to a draw. Saying it was a draw is like justifying the robbery decision that Froch received in his hometown.

I saw the fight and although Murray did his best and probably fought the fight of his career, Abraham clearly won.

The opening line of the OP talks about GGG moving up which is why it's relevant for me to say GGG's potential MW opponents probably couldn't beat the his potential SMW opponents at 168 and therefore SMW is the bigger challenge for GGG.

It's a matter of opinion which division you think is better. Looking at the top guys in each division, MW doesn't seem much better than SMW to me. (Canelo, Jacobs, Saunders, Lee, Quillin, Lemieux, N'Dam, Geale, Eubank Jr etc vs deGale, Jack, Abraham, Groves, Bute, the Dirrells, Ramirez Sanchez, Chudinov, Smith etc)

Which goes to show that moving up provides a challenge.

deGale isn't as dominant at SMW as GGG is at MW. Ward was clearly the best at SMW and now he has moved up. GGG is clearly the best at MW and he should also move up if he wants a challenge.

Golovkin and DeGale are both in the same position. H2H they are probably the best in their division, but they haven't had the opportunity to unify or become undisputed. The difference between them is that DeGale's division will be dead for a long time. It has a weak division below and a talent-rich division above.

Golovkin has the luxury of having a good division below and a dead division above. Beyond that, MW features some very good prospects.

A big difference is that GGG looks totally unstoppable at his weight whereas deGale has to avenge his Groves defeat, isn't guaranteed to beat Jack and has guys like Ramirez and Smith who he may not be massively favoured against in a the near(ish) future.

SMW might not be all that dead for deGale. As I said, he possibly has Jack, GGG if he moves up, Groves, Ramirez and Smith.

Fighting against prospects and blown up 154lbers isn't good enough for somebody like GGG who is looked at by many as one of the best in the world P4P, a possible ATG at MW and is in his mid 30's.

I agree and also ggg would have no leverage at all at 168,he can barely get anyone to fight him at 160 where's he has two belts who is to say that those 168 fighters would even agree to fight him.ggg should stay put and unify the other belts so that all roads lead to him he's already half way there.

:good Exactly, they'll all duck him too, probably even Zurdo Ramirez who's talking tough now.

Based on what? Lots of top middleweights who people would once have said are great fighters who don't duck a challenge have passed Golovkin by. Typically if theres a man to beat then there are guys who show intent on fighting him. Even Kovalev has Stevenson calling him out, whether you think it's a front or not he's there. Along with Ward, Barerra and recently Pascal. Golovkin hasn't had a single top 5 middleweight call him out in the past 5 years despite being THE man to beat and having more top fighters pass through the division than what is normal to see.

Based on him being a natural middleweight (and therefore smaller than them), a decent name/payday and the fact that he looks like he would be more beatable at 168.

Ward and deGale both have expressed interest at 168.

The guys at 168 might duck him but you can't just assume they will. I think logically smaller guys are more likely to duck him than bigger guys.
