Well done Craig McEwan !

Just watched the fight via a link on Gary Young's Facebook.

Quite a war although I agreed with the 97-93, Gave McEwan the first 7 and Perez the last 3. Don't know where the 95-95 came from!

Got to remember this was a very short notice fight for Craig. He was in Edinburgh until 15th July as his wife Sally has just given birth and he attended his good friend, Gordon Izatt's funeral the day before he flew out so he's hardly had an ideal training camp for this one.

 

He more than earned the win.

That doesn't mean he dominated, now - it was and ought to have been close in points - it just means he toughed it out admirably despite having a persistently belligerent grizzled vet hell bent on giving him a lesson in roughhousing, using elbows and bearhugs and whatever else was going to set Craig up for a big right hand. Credit to him, he took a couple of them on the chin, and yet kept his head in the game and put in a full ten round's work. The technique wasn't always tidy but for his stage of development and considering who he was in with it could hardly have been expected to be.

 

Well done craig. A fight in Scotland soon would be nice.

 

I just watched the fight, a real tough and interesting battle with plenty positives and negatives to take from his performance. I did like his offensive variety in the fight, he mixed up his punches well and incorporated some great body work...he really needs to start sitting down on his punches more.

He moved very well and was able to keep out of range most of the time, however because he keeps his hands low and his refelxes arent anything to write home about he was caught backing up quite a few times. You're able to get away with it fighting opponents like Perez. I think the KD was legit in the 4th, the right hand definitely had McEwan in trouble.

He showed he can come through adversity well though. After a bad start and a cut in the 2nd he battled through admirably and showed he can tough it out.

I had it 96-94 McEwan.

 

This guy dropped margarito.

 

Yes in the ninties while he was a welter.

 

Still it is impressive. You dont lose your punch.

 

A genuine welters punch and genuine middles punch are two very different things.
