Well done Gary... I thought that Gary lost a close points decison. I had it level going into the last 2 rounds.... It was a great learning fight and I think that Gary will definatly come again no doubt about that...:good
I thought Gary nicked it by a round, he boxed really well but his emphasis on proving he could box proved his undoing. He used up too much energy boxing and moving and would have been better served using his youth and fitness to take the sting out if napa early! Napa has a great chin but his reflexes aren't there anymore. Gary made the fight competitive but really it shouldn't have been as much of a struggle
thanks for the comments lads, we thought that after the fight jeff, we should have gone right at im early but because of what happened on tuesday it was too much of a risk. was a top night of boxing though and a bad night for maloney!
I have just watched it on Sky and you only see selected rounds...live and watching the whole fight it was very close indeed
:good :good thought sky didnt do gary any favours, ony caught them showing the last 2, gary had a shckin 11th but came right back in the 12th, no way was he outclassed. ill get him to post up in a bit if hes feeling up2 it
No shame in getting beat by Napa hes a top operator and proven to be above domestic level so no shame atall. Why didnt Davies go flyin at him though? Hes got knockout power!
Didn't see the whole fight on Sky so perhaps we got a bad impression of the fight as a whole, but from what Sky showed Napa was a class apart really. Especially later in the fight.
I disagree with a few of the comments too, I don't think power is important against Napa, he soaks it up. Nor is standing in the pocket and giving him a chance to counter a good idea. Going to war rarely works when his defence is so good and he exposes you with sharp counters. When Napa has lost its more often than not been when people keep out of his range and use movement. Force Napa to lead and he has no answer being so short.
Culshaw who is stylistically similar to davies stood and out punched him, standing off him just gives him time to pick his counters
Impossible to work out who won when you don't see all the rounds. Napa is a cracking little boxer and Gary stood in there and boxed on equal terms for most of the fight that I saw. No disgrace at all in losing that one and I'm sure when he's had chance to soak up the experience he'll come again.
Napa was several levels above and carried davies through that fight. Davies got heart though he was never going to win but didn't give up fair play.
